Feeding my soul … | Maggie Philbin
http://www.maggiephilbin.com/2013/08/feeding-my-soul
Feeding my soul …. One of the fabulous things about heading up TeenTech is the way it brings me into contact with so many great people. Firstly, the teenagers who constantly amaze with their sharp and fresh approach. In our recent TeenTech Awards. It means being constantly reminded of the great opportunities out there for people with the right skills. I met up with Alstom. Nickie at Associated Media. Dan Garraway: A much deserved accolade. Well done, Maggie! Aung San Suu Kyi. Jobs for the future.

Life is sometimes very surreal. If you were listening to R4’s Broadcasting House, you’ll know that my name was used as code to protect the identity of pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Who is delivering this year’s Reith Lectures. The lectures have run since 1948 and the BBC have recently made the archive. Of all 240 recordings available. They make for stimulating listening. Broadcasting House invited me to give my own mini Reith lecture on Sunday morning. You can listen to it here. It’s not surprisi...

Hard hats and Trim phones. You’ll have to forgive the murky pictures but I’ve had a fabulous experience this week. One of the real perks of the job. I was invited to explore the BT Tower. A building that has real resonance for me. As a kid, I watched it being built and was astonished something that shape could stand without toppling over. As a grown up, I still love it. A functional, striking and brave icon of Sixties London and still the hub of live pictures and digital data. I collected a ew of my own ...

Follow us on Twitter. Add me on Linkedin. November 14, 2012. I spent today at the TeenTech. Event in Guildford, as an ‘industry ambassador’. This partly involved not being as male or boring as they might expect a science person to be, while trying not to have hair like Einstein. I think I just about managed the first two, but failed miserably at the last one (naturally curly hair and damp autumn days do not mix…). Still, it was a great day, spent with a great bunch of lads from Tonbridge School.

Or was he perhaps illustrating his best tale about a hunt or a disaster in which numerous members of the tribe were killed by these same deadly beasts? The troubadour of the Middle Ages wandered Europe using his tongue and his imagination, and perhaps his lute, to put a...
