Im a foodie and a food snob. I admit it. I see a dish and work very hard to replicate it. Whether its in cook books, on line or from people I know. I will find some way to make it. June 20, 2015. The origin of Remoulade is French. It was invented to be a condiment with a lot of pickled stuff that would accompany a salad or seafood. Its similar to Tartar Sauce but with more stuff and its usually pink in color because it requires the addition of a tomato-based product, which Tartar Sauce does not. Remoulade is the basis for Thousand Island dressing and McDonalds Secret Sauce (on the Big Mac - which I was addicted to in High Scool (1970s).thats another story). Lemon juice a must.
