The sun has been extremely hot and as you can see by the photos, extremely bright. I have no idea what type of insect this is. Perhaps a relative of the insect that rested on the rain gauge a few days ago :). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Views since March 2011:. To be notified of new items submit your email address:. Maggiezlenz - a photo journal of wild and wonderful thingz. Wednesday, 10 December 2014. December 10, 2014. Dumper certainly knows how to keep busy during the day! Makes one wonder what he does at night? While we are all looking forward to the school holidays I wonder what will happen to Dumper. He often followed my friend to my house and I am hoping he will come around to be fed during the 6 week school holiday. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Views since March 2011:. January 1, 2015 (Dixi). Maggiezlenz - a photo journal of wild and wonderful thingz. Wednesday, 17 December 2014. December 17, 2014. The Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park is beautiful at the moment. So green that it looks unnatural! The rivers do not have much water at the moment. This vehicle is parked in the spot at the quarry where we saw. Elephants drinking (photos posted on 18 May). There is also a video on YouTube of Elephants crossing at this same spot. This is the link: Elephant Crossing. The water is teeming with Barbel. We had se...

Maggiezlenz - a photo journal of wild and wonderful thingz. Sunday, 4 January 2015. January 4, 2015. My veranda office is proving to be quite a hit - I see things that I would normally miss! There is much activity in the long grass next to an old reservoir on the field. I zoomed in and was rather amazed to watch the feeding tactics of these little Mannikins. They would fly up, grab on to a grass stem about halfway up and step up further and further. Until it bends over! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Maggiezlenz - a photo journal of wild and wonderful thingz. Tuesday, 6 January 2015. January 6, 2014. After a few very hot and humid days we had 4 mm of rain in the early hours of this morning. Not much but everything looked so fresh and clean as I settled on the veranda with a cup of coffee. The little Brown hooded Kingfishers were being quite vocal on the far side of the tennis courts. Judging by the colour difference this is probably a male and a female. It looks like a giant basket. July 23, 2012.

Maggiezlenz - a photo journal of wild and wonderful thingz. Wednesday, 24 December 2014. December 24, 2014. A Brown hooded Kingfisher was sitting on the tennis court below my house. Every now and then it would flap its wings very briefly. I must have taken about 40 photos to try and catch him at the right moment. How cool is that! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
