What the Flock: September 2011
http://hollielyko.blogspot.com/2011/09/september-2011.html
A BFA and Life After. So last weekend, September 15-18, I attended the first Iowa Clay Conference, and did a pre-conference Soda Fire with Brad Schweiger. It was practically better than NCECA, it was more intimate, and you did not have to watch a demo from a giant screen 200 ft away. Overall, it was the best weekend I have had for ceramics in a long time. The same piece that was selected for the River2River show, was also selected for the Hartford Art School first juried alumni exhibition.

A BFA and Life After. Artist Residency @ Corning Fine Arts. Corning Center For the Fine Arts. I am also the December artist in the gallery, so I will be putting up a show and hosting an opening reception starting the 2nd Saturday in December. Why I chose Corning to do a Residency:. A non intimidating environment for emerging artists, I didn't feel the pressure to compete. There are two apartments aboive the art center, for the resident artist ( small fee) fully furnished. More to come i promise.

A BFA and Life After. Summer is winding down. And it has been more productive than I thought it would be, considering I work a bajillion hours at my job and it is hot as hell inside and out at the garden center. I managed to finally finish a piece that I started a year ago when I moved here. I entered it into two shows, got rejected from one, and accepted into the other. The show that it will be in is called River2River. And it is part of the Iowa Clay Conference. This fall, from September 16-18, 2011.

A BFA and Life After. Clay Club Woodfire with Ben Krupra. On October 24th, 25th, and 26th Hartford Art School's Clay Club did a wood fire with visiting artist Ben Krupka. The firing was a great success and all the hard work really paid off. Much of the work will be for sale at the Clay Club Holiday Sale, December 4th-10th, 2009. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A BFA and Life After. Newsies, Fresh and Fetish. I have been MIA on here, but my camera cord arrived yesterday from PA, so I am able to upload some new pics. Here is the cow, bone dry, waiting to be bisqued. If she survives, then she will be wood fired and attended too accordingly. The blue guy is a new series of 'dinosaurs' that I am flocking and lustering. They are about the idea of a widdler and everything animate having said widdler. Remember if your widdler is small, it will grow soon.
