The Matlick’s home on the web. PEEBLES, TRAQUAIR HOUSE, AND A LOVELY NIGHT HIKE JULY 1. We didn’t have much of a plan today. We figured we’d head to Glasgow and then towards Peebles to check it out, maybe do some hiking. I wanted to go to Glasgow to see the wall at Tennent’s Brewery. My great-grandmother was a Tennant (yep, spelling changed once across the water) and I wanted to get a few pics. I love old cemeteries and honestly, the monuments here do not disappoint. We had a bite to eat and found an ear...

The Matlick’s home on the web. Archive for the 'Creativity' Category. I sew No really, I do. I have a pretty nice Janome machine that I drive like a race car (ZOOOOOOM! Thank god I can’t get a speeding ticket in the attic.I used to sew elaborate things like Elizabethan gowns. Or sometimes less elaborate things like suits. And maybe the occasional skirt. One time I made a duvet cover. That was horrible, just horrible. So what have I made recently? Empty coozie / Mead awaiting coozie / Mead with coozie.

The Matlick’s home on the web. SKYE TO LOCH MELFORT JUNE 29. Full and happy after breakfast, we headed out to check out the parts of Skye we had yet to explore. It was wet and damp and soppy with more of the same forecasted. So basically what everyone imagines when they hear about Scottish weather. Only it’s not as bad as all that. Our first stop was Skeabost St. Columba’s Isle but darn if the guidebook could be any more specific than putting a dot near the road and telling you what it was. Out of nowher...

The Matlick’s home on the web. Archive for the 'Geocaching' Category. I found my 4,000th cache today. Being recently returned from Colorado, which had turned into an unexpectedly prolific caching trip, I found myself sitting at 3,995 caches found. A quick few grabs had me perched at 3,999 and ready to take on a milestone worthy cache. Chris on July 16th 2016 in Geocaching. Time to Paddle (Or, the Only Time We Regret Skipping Arms Day). And so it is with us; we had begun to bandy about the idea of finding a friend for Kimi, when this little hungry, wet tortie found Chad. Here’s some bonus kitty belly rubs – Chad. The Matlick’s home on the web. Archive for the 'Vehicles' Category. It’s 44 degrees and we’re not smart. Ok You’ve probably figured that 35 degrees is not a great temperature. And I concur. But I’m also going to throw this out…the wind was crazy. It was pushing and shoving things all over. Like, for instance, my Jeep as Bj and I drove down mighty I-79 to drop the hard top off. So 35 degrees plus whatever crazy arse windchill = a poor day to change to the soft top. Chris on April 20th 2013 in Vehicles.
