magsramsay: July 2015
http://magsramsay.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Experiments with textiles, paints and plants. Monday, 27 July 2015. Last Week: Tallis, Pangaea II and Alchemy. Sunday lunchtime , listening on Radio 3 to the. Of the Thomas Tallis lunchtime concert. We went to last Monday at the Cadogan Hall. While lovely to hear again, the live performance, especially of Spem in Alium, was spine tingling. After the concert and a late lunch, while we were in Chelsea, we went to the Saatchi Gallery. Paintings of calligraphic marks constructed from layers of images found on...
magsramsay: Interviewed for Through Our Hands
http://magsramsay.blogspot.com/2015/07/interviewed-for-through-our-hands.html
Experiments with textiles, paints and plants. Friday, 24 July 2015. Interviewed for Through Our Hands. I don't know where the time goes - it's nearly time for the next issue of 'Through Our Hands'. Online magazine and I neglected to flag up that I'd been interviewed by Linda Seward for the current one! She did a brilliant job and at a time when I haven't stitched for months, it's reassuring to be reminded of my work in print. Looking forward to FoQ in just over a weeks time. Labels: Through our Hands.
magsramsay: FoQ purchases
http://magsramsay.blogspot.com/2015/08/foq-purchases.html
Experiments with textiles, paints and plants. Monday, 10 August 2015. I seemed to spend most of Friday and Saturday at FoQ talking! Yesterday was spent catching up with washing of clothes and a bit of scrumping of apples before the parakeets get them all ( v nice apple crumble last night). Today I've been rinsing and washing my ecoprinted treasures , taking photos beforehand to check how much colour they loose - looks like surprisingly little so far. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). serpentine stitches: 09/01/2013 - 10/01/2013

Thursday, 12 September 2013. Devoré workshop with Dionne Swift. Our first sample was a positive and negative design onto velvet using a silk screen with a paper mask. I did some buildings and added a bit of rain with a Thermofax screen. Then we had a choice between making a scarf and trying other fabrics. My second sample used a piece of devoré satin and the design combines a masking tape mask with a different Thermofax. The best bit was washing the fabric, after ironing it, and revealing the design.

Sunday, 5 July 2015. A stroll around our exhibition. A big thank you to all of you who visited our exhibition in Bromsgrove two weeks ago. We had a lovely weekend sharing work with family and friends. If you didn't manage to get there here are a few photos with apologies to those whose work I haven't included! The three photos above show a selection of work from my monthly textiles group. As usual there is a great variety of work including dyed and printed cloth and sketchbooks full of ideas. Creations - Quilts, Art, Whatever by Nina-Marie Sayre: Keys to Good Composition - Off the Wall Friday
http://ninamariesayre.blogspot.com/2015/03/keys-to-good-composition-off-wall-friday.html
Friday, March 27, 2015. Keys to Good Composition - Off the Wall Friday. As I finish up the my many - many. Hours of quilting, I started thinking about the composition of my next piece. I'm planning on using my annual lily piece as an excuse to experiment with silk. Still, I can't just experiment. I have to have a plan - a composition that I'm working toward. I've learned from past attempts, that the words intuitive. Are adjectives that will never. But how does one go about that? KEYS TO GOOD COMPOSITION.

A Passion for Vintage Textiles: button button
http://fabriquefantastique.blogspot.com/2015/07/button-button.html
Vintage buttons are so alluring and collectible. Relatively cheap at the Kiwi op shop. S and easy to transport home. Some, from my recent trip to New Zealand , have already been put into use, these from a stash of MOP buttons bought in Wakefield,. Here on a freshly knitted baby cardi. ( vintage pattern, of course). These steel grey lozenges are livening up my new grey linen dress. I seldom find buttons at home in the Canadian thrifts. 12 July, 2015. Such lovely button finds on your trip! 12 July, 2015.

http://serpentinestitches.blogspot.com/2014/07/back-after-6-months.html
Saturday, 19 July 2014. Back after 6 months. I've been having a break from blogging, but thought I'd try starting up again. For the JQs this year, I also decided to use a common colour scheme and dyed some blue-green and red-orange fabric. These colours can be seen in my first six 2014 JQs above. These are each 8 inches square (and include a line joining two of the sides). Thanks for reading this. 12 August 2014 at 15:36. Nice to see your back - so to speak. Thursday, 13 June 2013. On Monday evening I went over to Southport for the opening of Parbold Embroiderers' Guild's 'Scapes' exhibition. It's at the Art House Gallery and here is the front window. It's quite a small space and was filled by the people who had come to the preview. It was good to see everyone there. I have just one piece in the exhibition, this mountain landscape that I started at a workshop with Lisa Walton last October. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Nothing a hand sander and a little upholstered bench seat can't fix! First, I made the scratches and scuffs appear to be on purpose (by adding more of course! I had planned to cover the seat with burlap and do a floral pillow, but changed my mind at the last. Glad I did! I think I will be making more benches.sorry Dad! Fresh) Trash 2 Treasure.
