To thine own self be true. The season is almost over, and I noticed that we hadn't included any pictures of Caleb playing soccer. As always, he's been playing his heart out. Our days lately have been filled with many talks and meetings about his transition to middle school next year. It's hard to believe our boy will be walking the halls with 8th graders. I may be a complete. Wreck, but he's playing it pretty cool, saying "I'll still be the same boy, mom.". What we've been enjoying lately. Nothing like a...

To thine own self be true. Let the kids be kids, busy building and destroying sand castles. To top it all off, tonight we had a little walk on the beach at sunset. How many ways can I describe the perfection that is love and light from these two. Their energy contagious. I wonder, how long can we keep this going. Can we ride these waves of gratefulness through the end of summer, into the crispness of fall, and lasting until the chill of winter? This sums up some of these little forming personalities.

To thine own self be true. So I've been having a slight obsession with felt lately, but who could blame me? It's cold outside…and that means felt. It's so cheap! 25 cents a sheet. We've been cutting shapes, whether it be leaves or circles and stringing them with yarn to make garlands around the house. Very festive and cost effective. Best of both worlds! Also pairing antique finds with felt is neat-o. I pulled this antique grate from a local shop and married it with my felt obsession:. Life as we know it.

To thine own self be true. No one can really accurately describe the simplistic nature of beauty. It's all around us, in every imaginable way. Yet we have trouble finding the words. At least I have always had trouble. That's what I keep telling myself. The morning's clouds hung low and I thought to myself how silly it is to be driving around, lugging a camera with such inadequate light. What pretend photographer could get any photos in such horrific conditions. I couldn't imagine. Yet the pull was there.

To thine own self be true. The much-anticipated conclusion to this year's photo challenge. Now you no longer need to hold your breath ;-). Day 20 "food": made these healthy, easy protein muffins in my new mini muffin tin that I have an unreasonable excitement/attachment to. Day 21 "home": this is what home has always felt to me.where you can curl up and settle. In after a long day.warm bubble baths, reading stories on an unmade bed, talking about. Where our hearts live. I'm always getting to know in diff...

To thine own self be true. Part 2- AKA pictures and a New Year's Eve wish. I'll keep this short. Because, well it's New Year's Eve. And we have a bottle of Pinot Grigio to open and a game of Catch-Phrase waiting. True story. As always, I wish I would've got out my camera more often while we were in Kansas. Case and point, I completely spaced out while in Winfield visiting and regret that I don't have pictures of those wonderful memories. But they, like others, are seared into our hearts certainly. I'm go...

To thine own self be true. Dear uncomfortable struggle,. There's a common misunderstanding among all the human beings who have ever been born on the earth that the best way to live is to try to avoid pain and just try to get comfortable. You can see this even in insects and animals and birds. All of us are the same. But what if we need struggle? What if it is essential to our experience here in life? In a way, I'm glad to have opportunities of struggle to feel out these corners of myself. To find out...

To thine own self be true. Our DC trip {in pictures}. This year, for spring break, we trekked up north to see our nation's capital. First we'd like to thank our wonderful host, Mark's brother Tony. The stay was extremely enjoyed, every minute! The weather cooperated for the most part during our stay, and we were able to enjoy the outdoors. Getting some fresh air is always a must. One of our first stops was to Fort Washington. Definitely worth a read to explore the history that took place here. Shout out ...
