Frogwater Farm: Farewell to Summer
http://frogwaterfarm.blogspot.com/2014/10/farewell-to-summer.html
At home with children and chickens. Tuesday, October 7, 2014. Below, a few shots from the first few years. Mostly the same kids, only much smaller! I love hearing from you! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The plain fact is that the planet does not need more successful people. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. It needs people who live well in their places. And these qualities have little to do with success as we have defined it.

Frogwater Farm: September, Family Month
http://frogwaterfarm.blogspot.com/2013/09/september-family-month.html
At home with children and chickens. Saturday, September 28, 2013. September, Family Month. This month we enjoyed a long visit with my sister Sadie and her daughter, visiting from WA state. Its the first time we've seen them in over 2 years, but of course it felt just like yesterday once we'd gotten used to the fact that A is nearly 5 now, not the 2 and-a-half year old we remembered. It took me 5 full seconds to recognize which of my children this was! Could any other fair do waste so nicely? To use them,.

Frogwater Farm: Welcome Autumn
http://frogwaterfarm.blogspot.com/2012/09/welcome-autumn.html
At home with children and chickens. Sunday, September 23, 2012. This weekend we greeted Autumn's arrival with proper fanfare: a trip to the Common Ground Fair, our annual Autumn Equinox. Tradition atop Mr. Batty, our first and last lobster bake of the summer season, and some apple picking. The weather cooperated being not too rainy and appropriately cool. I love a chilly trip to the fair, and it feels right to break out the boots and woolens for the equinox. The Hobbit Houses at the Fair. Our annual equi...

Frogwater Farm: June 2014
http://frogwaterfarm.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
At home with children and chickens. Wednesday, June 25, 2014. We celebrated the solstice with two very different parties on a day that felt just how Summer Solstice should feel. The first was wild and raucous, with a band, swimming pool, trampoline, zip line, and badminton. The second was a quiet bonfire with kids riding bikes through the grass and poking the fire with sticks. One of the parties we attended was an Juhannus Party, a Finnish celebration of the Solstice. According to our Finnish friend ...

Frogwater Farm: March 2014
http://frogwaterfarm.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html
At home with children and chickens. Monday, March 31, 2014. I have a habit of being overly enthusiastic about new routines. We're only two weeks in with this one, so of course I'm loving it. I can't help myself. I love the idea of organization. This is not a new idea, just a new practice for us. So far I'm finding it helpful, maybe you will too. But first a brief back story:. For myself I have found that a timeline keeps me on track better than a "to do list", and knowing when they'll be working on what ...

Frogwater Farm: September 2014
http://frogwaterfarm.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
At home with children and chickens. Thursday, September 18, 2014. End of Summer (almost). Our end of summer has been even busier than the rest of the season, but packed with so much fun and adventure I'm not complaining. Though we may need a vacation from it soon! I always think fall will be that- a settling in and resting up time, but then it begins and what do you know? We are busier than ever with homeschooling, 4-H, chorus, music lessons, etc. Maybe we'll slow down for winter. Whew I'm tired already.

Frogwater Farm: First Snow!
http://frogwaterfarm.blogspot.com/2014/11/first-snow.html
At home with children and chickens. Sunday, November 2, 2014. We're hunkering down beside the woodstove and enjoying the snowy views this morning. Baking and filling water jugs in case of power outages. Maybe a Yatzee tournament this afternoon. I love hearing from you! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The plain fact is that the planet does not need more successful people. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every kind. All pictures and words.

Frogwater Farm: Homeschool Thursday
http://frogwaterfarm.blogspot.com/2014/11/homeschool-thursday.html
At home with children and chickens. Saturday, November 8, 2014. Notice the one oak still all leafed out in gold. I could get all worked up about it, but instead I'll share this powerful, uplifting piece on the issue. Its well worth your time, though it will make you cry. This poem. Was presented at the last UN conference by Kathy Jetnil-Kijiner of the Marshall Islands. But, if you end up with a foot of snow in November, you may as well enjoy it. November 9, 2014 at 2:35 PM. Were preparing for the snow th...

Frogwater Farm: October 2014
http://frogwaterfarm.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
At home with children and chickens. Wednesday, October 29, 2014. Homeschool Thursday: Back on Track. And it was fun! Seems to be true in our case. I made these cards with Wylie and Juniper 5 years ago, before Kale was born. It is a memory set where you match the tree with its seeds. Favorites such as these live in the drawers below and get pulled out year after year. Hard at work on "the Northern Hawk Owl". He is not very interested in letter sounds, but enjoys writing everything and will happily sit and...

Astro Weeks: September 2008
http://astroweeks.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, September 27, 2008. Yia Yia's new blog. My mother is totally biting off me. She now has her own blog and has even named it "Astroblog". Sooo biting. But here's the thing. While we named our blog after a joke I made 8 or 9 years ago about creating a band called The Jetsons and giving the title of the first album, Astro Weeks; (Get it? Like Van Morrison's Astral Weeks? She is pretty amazing. Links to this post. Wednesday, September 24, 2008. Project Runway: Season 6. It's all going to be okay....
