Maine Runner: June 2014
http://mainerunner.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 30, 2014. The other day was a great day with friends. Zak, John, Jim and I headed over to the Whites to run the Pemi Loop, going counter-clockwise. Well, Jim's plan was to run with us to somewhere between Bond and South Twin and turn around, which he did and kindly went into town to buy barley sodas for when we were done. Glad I did it. A great boost all around for my goals and I plan to run it again later this summer at a faster lick. Zak, Jim and John on Bondcliff. Lower 60s on summits, up...
Maine Runner: August 2013
http://mainerunner.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Saturday, August 31, 2013. My Achilles flared up like the Hindenburg when I ran Bradbury last month. I was a bit nervous about going there today, but given how I've been feeling lately, it warranted a test so long as I was careful. We crossed over to the west side of the park, saw Crux and Double-T, and then parted ways at the Tote Road which I took over to the Boundary Trail and then up to the summit. Ran into Sara on the way up. Took the switchback down and called it good. Posted by Jamie Anderson.
Maine Runner: Scuffle, Baldface and Deer Flies
http://mainerunner.blogspot.com/2014/07/scuffle-baldface-and-deef-flies.html
Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Scuffle, Baldface and Deer Flies. A bit of catch-up. I had taken Saturday off because the legs felt dead. I felt a rest day would allow me to absorb water that shouldn't really have been in the drain, but it was. Sunday was short, as the running consisted of sprinting over to help set up the aid stations for the Bradbury Scuffle, and also running with Ian to check on the placings of runners. Ran 30 miles @ 9:06/mile pace. Lower 70s, partly cloudy. Afterwards, I assembled the three...
Maine Runner: July 2014
http://mainerunner.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 28, 2014. Lately, keeping up with this blog has seemed like an unwanted chore. I think it's time for a break. I'm sad about that. Since 2006 I've had a lot of fun using this blog as a running log which has been very valuable for many reasons, but lately, it's felt like trying to start a fire with wet wood. I guess the reasons why are multifaceted, but primarily because of other means of logging data and also an increasing burnout on social media. Posted by Jamie Anderson. Links to this post.
Maine Runner: 2015 Vermont 100 Race Report
http://mainerunner.blogspot.com/2015/08/2015-vermont-100-race-report.html
Saturday, August 01, 2015. 2015 Vermont 100 Race Report. I don’t blog. To Pretty House - The Crowds (0-21.3). I lined up maybe a little further back than mid-pack and we were off at 4am. In that first mile, I watched the sea of runners, their backs illuminated by tailing headlamps, stretch out before me with no islands of darkness. Wow, that many people ahead of me? Maybe I lined up further back than I had thought. No matter though, it is a hundred miles after all. A nice downhill section, and there were...

My Trips and Races: August 2008
http://mytripsandraces.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
My Trips and Races. Saturday, August 2, 2008. NYC Half Marathon 7.27.08. Race number 21 was the NYC Half Marathon. Goals: to run between water stations, to run a 2:20 (based on my training run from the previous weekend), or to run a sub-10 pace. On Saturday, Mike and I went to Chinatown for our pre-race carbo-load. We stopped at Ten Ren for bubble tea, then went to Big Wong’s for congee and rice crepes. Before heading home, we got massages. It was so good! I had a lot of excuses for not doing well (nutri...

Garden Variety Maritime Runner: 2011-2012
http://garden-variety-maritime-runner.blogspot.com/2012/09/2011-2012.html
Garden Variety Maritime Runner. Tuesday, September 11, 2012. How has my running progressed since my last blog entry? Last year was not great in my running world. I believe I had pertussis/whooping cough in the early autumn, interrupting my plans for a good marathon. Even prior to that, my running had really not improved over the summer, for some reason. In fact, I think it regressed. A quick photo recap of the last year follows. Carrying too much weight? The 20 miles I ran the day before? The Fall Classi...

Random posts about trail running, computing, family-ing, thinking, and whatever else I choose to say. Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Though Through Tough Thought. I finally realized how weird the English language really is. I couldn't imagine having to learn all the nuances of "ou" and "gh", when is the "th" strong and when is it soft. Trail Hacker: December 2011
http://blog.hardbarger.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Random posts about trail running, computing, family-ing, thinking, and whatever else I choose to say. Monday, December 12, 2011. Last month was the first month in all of my blogging history where I did not. I have some new goals for 2012, so I'm sure I'll be posting about them shortly. I'd like to try the 100 miler again, I'd also like to build up a project that I've been putting off for WAAAAAY too long. I have a few new websites that I'm managing, but they are in their infant stages right now.
The Aging Pseudo-Athlete: Still fighting the fight
http://ultrarunandski.blogspot.com/2015/08/still-fighting-fight.html
Trying to stay active and healthy as a retired distance runner. Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Still fighting the fight. Last week, I worked as the "fishing instructor" for a local rec department's fishing camp. I got paid a little bit of money, but mostly I did it to help out a friend, who had lost her long-term instructor for the week. Things went just fine, I think I gave the kids some good lessons on ecology and sound environmental fishing practices, and we caught a lot of fish. On Monday, I wanted to t...

Maine Runner
Sunday, November 19, 2017. A Good Bad Idea. So, two weeks ago I ran an eight mile trail race. I ran with a friend who, like me, was also out of his usual running shape. We took it easy, didn't race, and just had chatted and enjoyed the trails. It was nice. Despite the huge lack of running, we finished pretty easily, though I was really sore afterwards. Ran 11.3 miles @ 8:40/mile pace. Mid 50s, raining, windy. Shorts, long sleeved shirt, New Balance trail shoes. Posted by Jamie Anderson. Links to this post.

I suppose we might as well start off with ruling out what TRX is not: it is NOT a torture device, even though sometimes participants of the TRX Strength Training for Endurance Athletes.
