Francesco Maiolo è nato a Nardo Pace (VV) il 22-12-1940 dove risiede fino al 1957. Autodidatta inizia a dipingere giovanissimo mentre il lavoro lo porta dapprima a Roma e poi a Torino dove si trasferisce nel 1963. Inizia l'attività espositiva dal 1966 con la prima mostra alla galleria Robert Philip di Parigi e successivamente alla galleria Viotti di Torino ma si dedica professionalmente alla pittura dal 1973. Per un artista come te caro Maiolo, la definizione Naif è da considerarsi impropria. A lui interessa di più la mappa interiore dell'anima e delle emozioni, che quella esteriore dei luoghi e dei profili che li rendono inconfodibili. Maiolo - dice di lui quel grande critico che è Anatoli Jakovsky - è raffinato di natura. C'é sempre nelle sue opere un tocco fiabesco, narrato con amore.
