This beautiful fellow* stopped by to have his aperitif in our garden today. Thanks to the Bushnell binoculars. We got last year, I was able to watch every detail as he merrily stripped a magpie's flesh from its bones for nearly 45 minutes. He then parked the carcass up on the hedge (presumably for later consumption.and why not use our hedge as a fridge? We've been known to do something similar. We've had a run of magical sunny weather here at La Maison. It feels good. Wake up early, have some green tea, start reading news online at all the favorite spots and work for clients while it's still cool. Hungry by mid-morning, so I pick a few wild strawberries from the garden for breakfast. They taste like candy. David has been encouraging wild strawberries as a cover crop for the non-tree or bush-covered areas of our garden; what a brilliant idea! Which I can eat by the handful. I don't like them,.
