We're just going to go ahead and make December one GIANT post. Here goes. Jack has had a recent obsession with characters of Asian languages. He made our first homemade Christmas decoration of the year. His banner says (supposedly) Merry Christmas in Chinese characters. I made the first cheesy (literally) Christmas themed item of the year. Hey, it got the kids to eat more zucchini! Back to our very local Christmas tree farm to pick the "one"! And, that's the one! Salt dough Santa's from their hand prints.

Thanksgiving in the Mountains. Okay, so Thanksgiving seems ages away. That's because it is. But, we're working on things here! This year, our family went to Leavenworth with Grandma and Grandpa Thorne and the Miller family. We spent four peaceful days there, each family in our own Worldmark condo, thanks to some kind grandparents. The cousins played games, watched movies, painted nails, and ran outside. Matt and I napped.a lot! Oh yeah, and we also had a pretty delcious turkey dinner! I beat you Grandpa!

Ryan and Elana and kids came over to Bainbridge Island for a visit. They helped us eat a yummy banana cream pie that Matt made for my birthday….it was super delish! Savannah May is FIVE! On the morning of her birthday, she woke up and said, “Mom, I feel different today.” All day she was astounded to find that she was taller, smarter, more helpful….it was amazing! We had a little family party this year and dressed the house in pink streamers and attired the girls with tiaras and wands.

And, the rest of the trip. We spent a couple days with the Hydes (I have no pictures! But, we were so glad we got some cousin time. Matt had a couple mountain bike rides in beautiful Utah canyons. Morgan joined him for the first. We played with Viv and Stella at Megan's house while getting ready for the wedding! Why is my baby so big? We also got to spend an afternoon with our friends, the Nebekers. It was fun for our kids to catch up with some favorite friends. Especially when it's your sister's wedding!

Kids always rat you out, don’t they? My neighbor just told me that when Savannah was playing at their house, she was pretending to talk on the cell phone and said, “Oh, I have to go. Halloween with kids is awesome because you get to make caramel apples. And turn them into monster creations. And run through Bainbridge Island's pumpkin walk with your friends, in the dark. With only lit up pumpkins to light the way. And, carve silly faces on big pumpkins. While making your own silly faces. And take cool pictures with them as they glow in the dark. You get to go to Halloween parties where you can wear your favorite dress-up and eat tons of candy. And, eat funny snacks. He won first place...

She may be tiny for her age, but she is so observant and always on alert (which is frustrating at nap time…).
