Make A Difference Too: 11/7/10 - 11/14/10
http://makeadifferencetoo.blogspot.com/2010_11_07_archive.html
Make A Difference Too. Sunday, November 7, 2010. One of the central questions I've been trying to answer during my time at The Clinton School of Public Service. Is this: How do I use my specific set of gifts and talents to benefit the most people? Helped me enter the classroom more prepared and now my three field projects at the Clinton School are helping me understand public service in more depth than I would have from pure classwork. About a month ago, I escaped from my cubicle for an hour and wandered...

Make A Difference Too. Tuesday, September 14, 2010. I had the good fortune to go see the documentary "Waiting for 'Superman'" a few days ago at the Toronto International Film Festival ( TIFF. After the film, there was an on-stage interview with the film's directors, one of the film's stars, Geoffrey Canada, and educational philanthropist and billionaire, Bill Gates. (pictured to the left). Whom I'd seen speak at the Clinton School last year. September 14, 2010 at 12:44 PM. September 15, 2010 at 12:03 AM.

I'm sure you saw it coming, but it needed to be said anyway. I had high hopes and expectations (bonus "e") for the Roots of Empathy (ROE) organization and they have been exceeded (and another! Make A Difference Too. Friday, December 24, 2010. Updates from the Negev. Anti-Polygamy Activists in Israel Run Into Islamic Opposition. Written by David E. Miller. Published Thursday, December 23, 2010. Negev clerics and politicians infuriated by women's campaign. A women’s group campaigning to stop polygamous marriages among Israeli Bedouin is running into strong resistance from Islamic groups and even some politicians. In Islam, a man may marry up to four wives on condition that he provides for them e...
Make A Difference Too: On Teaching
http://makeadifferencetoo.blogspot.com/2011/01/on-teaching.html
Make A Difference Too. Saturday, January 15, 2011. I came across these words by Lao Tzu in the book "The Enlightened Heart". This captures what I hope to be as a teacher. Some say that my teaching is nonsense. Others call it lofty but impractical. But to those who have looked inside themselves,. This nonsense makes perfect sense. And to those who put it into practice,. This loftiness has roots that go deep. I have just three things to teach:. Simplicity, patience, compassion. Religion is not Politics.

Last Day: Initial Impressions. It’s my last day in Kisiizi. “To do” list in full force. Oh yeah, and work. Saying goodbyes, taking care of business, packing, pictures, and a summer’s worth of memories all coming to a cacophonous convergence. Oh yeah, and work. Why does life have to be so hard? I am so excited to go to Egypt and see me Julie and come home to friends and family and finishing school and FOOTBALL! I will also, to my great surprise, miss this place. No Woman is an Island - Public Service from St. Lucia. A blog written by Clinton School student Judy Watts on life in St. Lucia along with the trials and tribulations of a project focused on climate change. Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Public Service and the City. Anyway, one day at this internship my boss’s colleague came up to me with a sheepish look in his eyes and said, “I feel really badly about this…. I hate to ask you this, but would you mind going to Starbucks for some of us? Posted by Captain Judy.

Life is a (shang)Haiway. I hope you will follow my journey through Shanghai with twocities art gallery to plan a community art event. Saturday, July 17, 2010. One thing I will not miss about China is some of the foreign and not-so-foreign smells. 1 The smell of damp heat rising off dirty streets and seeping out of grimy buildings…. 2 The smell in convenience stores of boiling processed meats, seaweed, and tofu in some kind of broth…. 3 The smell of eggs that have been hard boiled in tea…. Breaking Out of Africa: July 2010
http://breakingoutofafrica.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html
Breaking Out of Africa. Tale of a Clinton School of Public Service student working with African prisons. Jul 14, 2010. So I left Uganda. It was so surreal to be driving away from Kampala towards the airport. I hope I appreciated it enough. And saw enough. And experienced enough. I was scared, so I left. In the name of positiveness, I have decided to write about a few non-bomb related things that have happened recently. Paper Pencil. Chalkboard. Chalk. That is all you need. Living Well
1in6, Inc. Blog: Making Things Whole. As I approach twenty years of managing a therapy service for men who have been sexually traumatized, I ponder the meaning of it all. Recovery usually does not involve healing on the physical plane – but the healing of something that can best be described as soul wounds. The bleeding of the heart; the psychic suffering; the ghosts that do not sleep …. I saw enough skulls not to question these facts. Despite the darkness, there are many points of light emerging around ...
