Well, i have a little new york schoolgirl :) makenzie started first grade this week. it's funny because she started on wednesday and then had thursday and friday off for rosh hashanah, so a very short first week. this next week will be a little more strange that she is in school all day everyday! In kindergarten she only went for 3 1/2 hours, so her being gone all day will be so weird! She was so excited to start and was bummed to not get to go back yet. :). Schools are quite different here!

The Brietzke Family: February 2011
http://dannyandjulie.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 10, 2011. It's true what they say about kids. They say the darndest things. They always tell the truth. They have no filters. They can't keep secrets. Yep, all of these apply to the following story (names have been changed to protect the innocent). So, Danny needed to borrow something from our neighbor, Bob. He went over to Bob's house and rang the doorbell. His four year old daughter, Sally, answered the door. Danny: Hi, Sally! Is your Daddy here? Links to this post.

Monday, January 14, 2013. It's clear to see that this post was written in January 2013 and my last post, while written in July 2012, was actually about May 2012. I sure have a lot of recapping to do! The end of May 2012. Some of Jake and Aly's best friends, Tommy and Taylor, came to eat lunch with them at school. Jake and Aly got lots of end of the year awards because they're rock stars. ;). Luke finished his first season of soccer! The last day of first grade and third grade! Photo by Michael Norwood.

Sunday, January 23, 2011. Lesson 1: I'm strictly a social runner. And by strictly, I mean, no running partner eventually means no running. Lesson 2: I HATE the treadmill. So, fast forward to Oct. 2010 when I was supposed to start training and suddenly I find myself wondering how in the world I'm going to do this. Not only is it still 95 degrees outside, but I have no one to run with! And whatever you do, DON'T CRY! It was mental anguish.that sounds dramatic, doesn't it. ;). Have mercy on me! I'm prepared...

The Brietzke Family: November 2010

Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Halloween weekend was full of all kinds of fun! On Friday night we carved our pumpkin. We decided to hold off until the last minute on the carving this year because our pumpkins usually end up dieing before Halloween actually gets here. Until this year, we've always let the kids each have a pumpkin and decide how they wanted it carved. My most impressive example is Darth Vader. It was even on the invitation so we were pretty sure he was serious about this. :) So.we pu...Here ...

Friday, April 8, 2011. Happy Birthday, Luke! I really can't believe my baby is four years old! Last year Aly's school went to Chuck E Cheese and had a birthday party for Jesus. We went with them and ever since then Luke has said he wanted to have his birthday party at Chuck E Cheese. This went on for an entire year and he never forgot, never wavered so.a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese is just what he got and he could not have been more excited! When he was beginning to realize what was happening:.

Today makenzie got out her paints to make a book. she worked so hard on it. first she drew the outline for all the different birds. then she painted them and then she wrote about each one. i didn't help her at all, she came out of her room with the finished product. so cute! She even added a cover page, an inside cover and a back page :) i did tell her she should remember to write in pencil so that when she messes up she can erase instead of scribbling. :).
