salty oat: modern handmade quilts: leather + canvas foldover clutch
http://saltyoat.blogspot.com/2012/09/leather-canvas-foldover-clutch.html
Leather canvas foldover clutch. Since I'll be traveling a lot this fall ( Salt Lake City. Austin, New York and DC. Are on the list! I wanted to make myself a cute clutch for nights out on the town. Inspired by the tutorials I've seen floating around blogs, I decided to make myself a foldover clutch with a metal zipper using a combination of these two. And leather from another friend for the outside of the clutch. And for the inside, I used a print from Erin McMorris's Summersault. Jessica at Me Sew Crazy.

salty oat: modern handmade quilts: gingham quilt
http://saltyoat.blogspot.com/2012/04/gingham-quilt.html
When Amanda Jean posted an in-progress shot of her gingham quilt. Back in 2010, I knew I had to make my own. Fast forward to last fall, to right before we moved into a new house, when I finally did. Using remnants from my stash (including scraps from our gray wedding day tablecloths), I made a mini version to hang above our bed. I backed it with a cute Lizzy House print, hand quilted it using gray perle cotton, and bound it with a mini yellow gingham. Posted by Caitlin at Salty Oat. West Jordan, UT.

salty oat: modern handmade quilts: hourglass mini quilt
http://saltyoat.blogspot.com/2015/07/hourglass-mini-quilt.html
When I first spotted this Amish hourglass quilt. From the Esprit Quilt Collection on Pinterest six months ago, I was immediately smitten. I returned to the image over and over again, so when I was in between projects a few weeks ago, I decided to finally create a mini interpretation of the original. The quilt's size was dictated by the amount of dark charcoal gray fabric I had in my stash (which first appeared in this gingham quilt. Inspired, I've returned to reading my copy of Amish Quilts. I can see th...

salty oat: modern handmade quilts: teal diamond quilt
http://saltyoat.blogspot.com/2015/07/teal-diamond-quilt.html
This quilt began as a fabric pull, many months ago, inspired by the teal and mint prints in Carolyn Friedlander's Botanics collection. It turned out that I had a number of solids and prints in my stash within the same color range, so I pulled them all to create a sizable stack of pretty, monochromatic fabrics. Not long after, I had the perfect project for them: a diamond quilt pattern. A member of my circle in do. Good Stitches. In case you're interested, this quilt. Is now available in the shop. I love ...

salty oat: modern handmade quilts: teal-and-chartreuse diamond mini quilt
http://saltyoat.blogspot.com/2015/08/teal-and-chartreuse-diamond-mini-quilt.html
Teal-and-chartreuse diamond mini quilt. Ever since I received the latest batch of Maze and Vale fabric panels. I've been itching to sew with the new designs. I'm quite smitten with the trio of prints. That are printed on a gray organic cotton base cloth, so I picked this gorgeous teal heart print. To use for my first project, and paired it with coordinating teal and chartreuse prints from my stash. I used the same method of quilting for this version as I did with the original. I would absolutely love to ...

salty oat: modern handmade quilts: black-and-white pow-wow quilt in cotton lawn
http://saltyoat.blogspot.com/2015/05/black-and-white-pow-wow-quilt-in-cotton.html
Black-and-white pow-wow quilt in cotton lawn. Just before I left Spoonflower, we added a super soft cotton lawn to our line-up. I was really excited for this fabric's release, as I knew it would be perfect for quilting (think Liberty of London's Tana Lawn). Wanting to make a quilt from it myself, I selected a number of low-volume designs from the Spoonflower marketplace, and the Marketing team kindly provided me with a stack of fat quarters to work with. I used a black-and-white striped binding (love!

salty oat: modern handmade quilts: do. Good Stitches: Yellow Cross Quilt
http://saltyoat.blogspot.com/2014/03/do-good-stitches-yellow-cross-quilt.html
Do Good Stitches: Yellow Cross Quilt. In December, I was the quilter for my circle of do. Good Stitches. I decided to keep it simple, since it was the holiday season, and I asked our group members to make two cross blocks. Using any shade of solid yellow. I love, love, love how this quilt turned out! The yellow crosses are so cheery and happy, and I'm so inspired to work with this palette more. I quilted it with a crosshatch pattern in yellow thread. It was nice to finally use it up. That is such a beaut...
