The Makeshift Cook: November 2009

Not "make shit cook.". Hardcore breakfast: Crockpot Wheatberries with Coconut Milk and Mango. Posted by Maven at 1:12 PM. This is extremely easy and hearty as can be, but will give your jaw a workout. 1 cup wheatberries (I used hard winter wheatberries). 1/3 cup coconut milk. 1 cup frozen mango chunks. Put it all in the crockpot before bed and set to low. When you wake up, breakfast will be ready! You could also make this with fresh mango (add in the morning? Links to this post. Not "make shit cook.". The mea culpa meal: Winter Squash Lasagna with Kale, Sage, and Caramelized Onions. Posted by Maven at 7:58 PM. Oh hello, internets. Remember me? I'm the owner of this here blog, which languished all summer. I do have a reasonably good excuse for some of the absence: I got married 4 weeks ago, and while I was not CONSUMED by wedding planning, it most certainly did absorb some energy. Also, it was summer, and I was doing summery things, like not cooking. And then I remembered an amaz...

Not "make shit cook.". Posted by Maven at 2:51 PM. There are lots of vegetarian and vegan Reuben recipes floating around out there, and most of them use tempeh. I am all for it because I totally dig tempeh, but sometimes you don't have any at home and you want a big sloppy sandwich anyway. A Reuben-esque sandwich, even, despite the fact that you're missing some of the key ingredients. Here's what you'll need if you want to replicate this sandwich, which was eaten so quickly I couldn't get a picture of it:.

Not "make shit cook.". Test kitchen: Bob Barley Salad. Posted by Maven at 12:55 PM. I will only have that ideal fridge if I spend a bunch of money at the Whole Foods deli or make everything myself. When I'm in the mood to make everything myself, this salad recipe from Anger Burger. Sometime I'll make this exactly as the recipe says, but this time I used what I had on hand (which is, after all, what this blog is about). Here are my mods for this time around:. I finished it with a squeeze of lime. Anyway, ...

Cuca's Puerto Rican Kitchen: March 2008
http://puertoricankitchen.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html
Cuca's Puerto Rican Kitchen. Recipes for Puerto Rican food from my mother's kitchen with the occasional foray into other cuisines. Sunday, March 9, 2008. Now, for today's recipe: vinagre. Wendell and I have had protracted exchanges about this miraculous substance recently, and since Cuca decided to re-up our stash today, it's the perfect topic for discussion. A lot of PR food n00bs are surprised to find out that our food isn't spicy hot, like that of our Mexican cousins. To that, I would say:. I'm in som...

Cuca's Puerto Rican Kitchen. Recipes for Puerto Rican food from my mother's kitchen with the occasional foray into other cuisines. Wednesday, March 5, 2008. Pa' que tu lo sepas! Just so you know! That's the translation of this post's title, and when preceded by "Yo soy Boricua" it forms the soundtrack at Puerto Rican Day Parades around the country. In this case, it perfectly sums up my feelings about this blog: this is real Puerto Rican food, just so you know. I think so, kitty. March 5, 2008 at 7:17 PM.

Cuca's Puerto Rican Kitchen. Recipes for Puerto Rican food from my mother's kitchen with the occasional foray into other cuisines. Friday, May 30, 2008. Since all of you come from my other blog, you already know by now that my life has taken a turn in the vegetarian direction. At first, I thought that this would be disastrous for my relations with cocina criolla. Today's recipe is one that comes traditionally in vegetarian and pescatarian form. (Is that even a word? For the berenjenas guisadas,. 1 Peel a...

Cuca's Puerto Rican Kitchen. Recipes for Puerto Rican food from my mother's kitchen with the occasional foray into other cuisines. Wednesday, March 5, 2008. I'm in somewhat of a bind, gentle readers. For my first useful post, I was inclined to provide a primer on the Puerto Rican pantry. That said, I'm not sure how useful that would be in this blogaree- maybe it's just better if I introduce new ingredients and techniques as we get to them? Recaito. Sofrito. Especias molidas. As for especias molidas,.

Destroying myself one breath at a time. Sessions With Her 1-6. Sessions With Her 2.1 – 2.4. Such a fucking miserable pointless mindfuck is this life! How much more sad could it possibly get? I am sorry for whatever is happening to him. Predictable, but nevertheless sad. I can honestly say that about two people tonight, which is doubly fucked. The difference is the other guy doesn’t know it yet. Lather, Rinse, Motherfucking-Repeat! Tags: fuck if i know. Laquo; Older Entries. Sessions With Her 1-6.

The Makeshift Cook
Not "make shit cook.". Breaking the blog silence: Sundays in the kitchen. Posted by Maven at 4:18 PM. Hi internet. I disappeared under a pile of snow for awhile there, and now I am basically buried under my jobs. One of those jobs is in my field and fulfilling and wonderful, but it also necessitates that I live out of a suitcase Monday night through Thursday afternoon in a place with no kitchen. No recipes today, but I thought I'd at least let you know what I'm making:. I've been using this recipe as a s...
