TheOtherDrX's Higher Education blog. Although not exclusively Higher Education…. Black Swans: When you disprove your own hypothesis that all Swans are white. November 17, 2016. I wrote a blogpost a while back on the White Swan hypothesis, where I challenge my research students to test the hypothesis that all swans are white, as in the UK and Europe, this is a generally accepted notion. Teaching – freedom is always the freedom to think differently. Progress 8 – will a new education secretary review it? 8220;Neo – progressives” vs “1970s progressives”. June 9, 2015. 1 Like 1970s progressives, neo-progressives believe that education should be child centred and that teaching specific subjects is old fashioned and detrimental to progress. 2 Like 1970s progressives, neo-progressives believe that children’s opinions are paramount. However there are some key differences. 2 Unlike 1970s progres...

Teaching – freedom is always the freedom to think differently. 8220;Neo – progressives” vs “1970s progressives”. Progressive Values →. June 15, 2015. Yes , it’s that time of year when those of us who teach in secondary welcome a gaggle of year 6s into the school for “induction.”. The problem is, it’s rather difficult to suggest that when it comes to induction, less would mean more! This entry was posted in Uncategorized. 8220;Neo – progressives” vs “1970s progressives”. About | fish64
https://fish64.wordpress.com/about
Teaching – freedom is always the freedom to think differently. I have been teaching for over 25 years. Only started reading teacher blogs recently. Fortunate enough to work in a school where, at least up to now, the latest educational”fads” have not been imposed on staff. Don’t think I’m a luddite, but I’m very suspicious of all workload increasing initiatives which seem to be more about ticking a box on a CV than improving education. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. When that photograph was taken, I thought the microwave oven was the pinnacle of human development. Seriously. I thought that we were pretty much done. Making Learning Fizz | Designing experiences for our classrooms that really make learning "fizz"
Designing experiences for our classrooms that really make learning fizz. July 3, 2015. We all need a little reinvention from time to time. As my humble little blog moves into its third year of existence, the decision has been taken to give it a long overdue makeover. If I have not said thank you for reading for a while then, let me say it now. A major (and tricky) part of this re-design was re-naming the site. Formerly makingpefizz.com, it has now been modified: makinglearningfizz.com. I knew the site ne...
