The last bastion of M$ was excised from my network; I have wiped my Microsoft 2003 Server that was mostly DNS, DHCP and File Services with a side helping of DNLA Server and BT services. It was doing the Active Directory too, but if it was the last MS host, why do I need Active Directory? Typing in all the DNS and DHCP Entries sucked at first, but was rather painless once up. There is where you SUCK MS!

February 23rd, 2013. I have received the word and while I was momentarily taken aback, I cannot say I was very surprised to learn that Kerry is to be cremated and there will be no service. As it was told to me, Kerry wanted "no Pity Parties, just move forward," which is a Very Kerry Sort of Thing. Respecting the wishes of friends can be so very difficult. HRF is Restored to Service. The root cause of today's issues was a likely hardware failure. I moved the two mirrored hard drives into the spare server and it booted up ok but was very slow to get to the login: prompt. Md recovered minor issues in the root partition, but the server was not on line and named was whining about file handles being set to 1024 instead of 4096 along with other stuff that indicated named was not working. Tweaked timezone in Kathy's copy of the update script. I noticed that, after the move to the new server, something appeared to screw up the timing of the RSS feed's update. As it turns out, something was passing along the wrong timezone, so I've hardcoded the timezone for GMT instead of grabbing whatever the server was in. Note that this change may need to be copied to other comics on the site, at least if they use the RSS or Transcript versions. Post a new comment. Comments allowed for members only.

Adding transcript support to Autofox? Kathy's been mentioning that she wants to have the Carry On archives searchable, as far as transcripts go. I've a few ideas, and have even added transcripts to the first five Carry On strips, but I don't think the way I've done it is working very well. I was in the center lane, changed lanes to get around a slower vehicle, saw too late that traffic suddenly stopped, hit the brakes and did not try to swerve, but lowsided (meaning front lost traction) into the back end of another vehicle.
