A couple of weeks ago I delivered a Rocksolver-generated layout plan to a local landscape designer. It was for a small area of erosion control so it was just the 2D layout plan that was needed. About | Rocksolver
https://malbertsinvention.wordpress.com/about
In 2004 I read a book written by a couple of American inventors. Their advice to any would-be inventor was to forget about being an inventor and stick to a regular job because there was only about a 3% chance the invention would ever make any money for the inventor. Armed with that information I went ahead and became an inventor. Maybe it’s a personal thing because it’s. Invention. I also think it’s a pretty good idea, to use software to help us build with irregular shaped material.

2nd prototype Rocksolver wall. Knocking down the wall →. A 2D algorithm for a 3D structure? August 28, 2010. Whilst researching the techniques stone masons use when building walls out of irregular blocks of rock rubble I realised they select rocks so that the problem to be solved is 2-dimensional rather than the much harder 3-dimensional packing problem. To illustrate what I mean have a look at the diagrams below showing a retaining wall in cross-section and front-on. The previous posts have shown how Ro...
