http://malcolmsjournal.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 14 December 2011. 208 and the Horace batchelor years. Following on from the theme of the previous post and drawing comparisons to the demise of other, older technologies to the digital train, I have been using the fluctuating reception of the old medium wave radio and the early baby boomer years of Radio Luxembourg as a potential subject matter to illustrate and develop aesthetic visual outcomes that investigate styles, and particularly print qualities of the mid previous century period. Using...

studio journal: Digital Collage - Swiss graphics influences

http://malcolmsjournal.blogspot.com/2012/04/digital-collage-swiss-graphics.html

Friday, 27 April 2012. Digital Collage - Swiss graphics influences. Currently working on a series of digital collages of 'cityscapes', based on Bristol, Bath and London. These explore composition, juxtaposition and colour palettes suggested by Swiss graphics styles of the 1950's. The main battle here was dealing with the inconsistencies of digital print. Getting screen, stock and printer profiles set in order to print what is seen on screen is a nightmare! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Shameless Self Promoters

Saturday, May 21, 2016. What is "just a headache"? It's never just that. It's a heaviness that settles into sinuses, a feeling at the back of your throat that ruins all hunger, the feeling of your ears popping again and again. How do you convey the feeling of doom to it, and how your eyes are not quite right? What secret things does everyone else harbor in their bodies? Is a sudden sharp pain somewhere sometimes just nothing? When my mother comes back from Japan, she brings pottery. A piece breaks in...

Travel Tales | what we did and where we went

What we did and where we went. So today was our last day in Rome (we fly out at 7.30 am tomorrow morning). We did a circuit on the tour bus before heading to St Peter’s square to see the Pope. Every Sunday (when he’s in town) the Pope appears at the window of the Apostolic Palace to pray the Angelus and bless the crowd in the square (which, today, included Kylie and I). We took many pictures of the Pope and of the crowd. After our papal encounter we headed for the catacombs of Saint Callixtus. I made it ...

Malcolm's Korea and Japan Trip

Saturday, 17 October 2009. In 2005 I visited Japan with the European Coaster Club travelling around most of the large theme parks on Honshu and you can read all about it here. But not right now please! In 2009 a second trip was organised this time including Kyushu and prior to visiting Japan spending a week in South Korea.
