Find more information on the path here:. The Way is 100 miles long in total. There are more photos in our photo gallery. We started walking the South Downs Way at Easter 2010. We started from Winchester on Good Friday, and arrived at Amberley at the end of Easter Monday. We used Bed and Breakfast accommodation; carrying our own clothes and so on. We bought packed lunches from B&Bs, and ate out all the time. We aimed to walk 15 miles per day (including getting to and from the B&B). Day 2: Exton to Buriton.

Sunday, 27 May 2012. Walking the South Downs Way. Day 1 - Winchester to Meonstoke. The official starting point is King Alfred's statue and Eastbourne is 100 miles east. Here's the route for the morning. All routes are external links to Google Maps). You'll see that we stopped at the Millbury's pub for a lunchtime drink and defrost. And here's the afternoon route.
