Elaine is turning 50! Wasn't That a Party! Slicing, trimming, switching, sewing. Sep 13th, 2009 05:02 pm. Here is a picture of the quilt we (all 63 of us! Gave Elaine for her 50th birthday. I asked many of her friends to make a friendship star for this quilt. I was hoping for 50 blocks, but this lady is just too popular :-). Thanks again to everyone who participated by making a block. And special thanks to Mary Dodd for helping me piece it (she even used pins! And to Carol Anderson who quilted most of it.

We always celebrate her birthday on the last Monday in July because we don't meet in August. Birthday is August 27th! Elaine's not sure she can handle turning 50. (She'd better get over it - this is only the first of several celebrations! Besides, according to this fabric Karen and Judy gave her, Long arm quilters live long lives!

I finally finished all the 9 patch blocks with the squares in the right place. This is important because after they are done you have to cut them and switch the pieces around. I made a couple of test blocks and this is what they look like:. I've learned my lesson and now make sure everything fits. The greens are a bit brighter in real life, the flash bleached them out a bit.

Look at the mess I'm in! Doesn't Ed look worried? My head is like a football,. This is Luke, who is the cutest and best baby - this is the only picture I had that fit the lyrics!
