Sewing, knitting and life. About me – ClaireEmily. August 2, 2016. Knitting all the things. First up, here is a lovely big triangular scarf/shawl. This yarn was a gift from my lovely friend Kate who dyed the yarn herself! I love the subtle color gradations that she achieved. The yarn is 100% Australian merino in a 8ply/dk weight. The pattern is Herald. It makes a very snuggly, large scarf and I just love it. The pattern is a free one, Flame Chevron Scarf. I feel that is hat is a bit of a statement. A...

English Paper Piecing – accidentlykellystreet
https://accidentlykellystreet.wordpress.com/2015/07/09/english-paper-piecing
Sewing, knitting and life. About me – ClaireEmily. July 9, 2015. So it seems I have a new passion – English Paper Piecing – which is hand sewn patch work, a very old and traditional quilting method. I took a two evening class at Stitches Seattle. The hexagons on their own looked like this. The basic method (or at least what I’m doing) is this:. 2) Pin the paper shape to the fabric and baste it on on the reverse side. You end up with a stack of fabric covered shapes like these. My favorite thing about EPP...

I’ve been looking forward to the new Spring Vogues. And it was definitely worth the wait this time. Here are my favorites:. I love this Donna Karan dress! I’m envisioning this in a pretty eggplant color. This DKNY dress is pretty cute, too, although it sort of reminds me of a bridesmaid dress. Perhaps it’s the taffeta fabric. I wonder how this would look in linen. Thoughts? I would love to sew this Anne Klein dress! I like both of the Tracy Reese dresses. They look cute and comfortable. The only thing th...

http://www.staciethinksshecan.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Stacie Thinks She Can. A sewist trying to improve her skills and create beautiful things. Sunday, January 4, 2015. New Look, New Year. It has been awhile. Some sewing has gone on that I never got to, but I was so excited about this shirt I had to come tell you guys immediately. I just finished a button down shirt made from New Look 6266. The shirt also has side vents which are cute and functional since this shirt is a bit longer. New Years we mostly hunker down because the pup is so terrified of the fire...

Stacie Thinks She Can. A sewist trying to improve her skills and create beautiful things. Thursday, August 6, 2015. The quilt is finally finished! This is my Swoon quilt made with fabrics from Riley Blake's Trendsetter line as well as several cotton steel lines. I have about a million hours into this sucker and couldn't be happier with the results. The white is Moda's bleached white, and was a really nice quality to sew with. All the fabrics were. Stacie Thinks She Can. A sewist trying to improve her skills and create beautiful things. Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Updates on random projects. Clothes are out of the question right now, but I have been sewing a few things. Crib sheets. They take 45 minutes and 2 yards of fabric. They are way cuter than the pink, blue, yellow and grey offerings in stores. I;m also working on a Swoon quilt. It is pretty advanced compared to my usual quilts. This block is 2 feet by 2 feet and took me 3 hours to make! Sew Ble...

Stacie Thinks She Can. A sewist trying to improve her skills and create beautiful things. Monday, July 21, 2014. CANCELLED* * Rhonda's Houston meetup. The meetup was cancelled. It was for a good reason, but hopefully soon H-town sewists will get it together. I'm sure if you're in Houston, you know Rhonda from Rhonda's Creative Life is coming to town. However, if I missed it because you didn't know, I'd feel so bad. So I am reposting the plan, but go to Rhonda's site. Sunday, July 27, 2014. 3 Hours Past t...

Stacie Thinks She Can. A sewist trying to improve her skills and create beautiful things. Sunday, March 22, 2015. Baby quilt and scrappy pillow. It has been awhile. When it gets dark early I struggle to get pictures taken, and I've mostly just been hemming pants or making things you have seen a million times. I love this quilt I just finished for one of my best friends who is pregnant though. She is creating a gender neutral yellow and grey nursery. The quilt is from the book Simplify by Camille Roskelley.

Quilted hexie pouch – accidentlykellystreet
https://accidentlykellystreet.wordpress.com/2015/07/18/quilted-hexie-pouch
Sewing, knitting and life. About me – ClaireEmily. July 18, 2015. Here’s my first quilted project! It’s a small pouch made with my 1″ english paper pieced hexagons. The pattern is from Quilting on the Go by Jessica Alexandrakis. I spray basted the hexie top to the low loft polyester batting and backing fabric. I then quilted using a straight line pattern using my walking foot on my machine. Once the hexies were done putting the pouch together did not take very long. I’m pretty happy with it! Fill in your...

Rayon floral dress and simple skirts – accidentlykellystreet
https://accidentlykellystreet.wordpress.com/2015/08/05/rayon-floral-dress-and-simple-skirts
Sewing, knitting and life. About me – ClaireEmily. August 5, 2015. Rayon floral dress and simple skirts. I’m not loving sewing clothes for myself right now, but as this blog is my creative journal I’m going to put this out there. Here’s McCalls 6073. I don’t like it very much. The thin knit is a bit of a PITA to get a nice finish on, to be frank. I actually shortened this dress to knee length and then reused the fabric to make a simple no-pattern pull on skirt.
