Katty S for KCB201. Wednesday, April 30, 2008. How is open source work (as an example of community produsage) different from commercial production? Katty S for KCB201: Citizen Journalism - a question of quality?
http://kattys14.blogspot.com/2008/05/citizen-journalism-question-of-quality.html
Katty S for KCB201. Thursday, May 8, 2008. Citizen Journalism - a question of quality? How do communities evaluate quality? OK, so this question could mean a lot of things. Quality where exactly? In culture, online, but where? Corrective and a supplement to the output of commercial, industrial journalism". If you still don't get it, watch the video below. It gives viewers a rough idea, outlining what citizen journalism is. Videos just somehow always seem to explain it so much better than text. Bruns, A&#...

Katty S for KCB201: Wikipedia
http://kattys14.blogspot.com/2008/05/wikipedia.html
Katty S for KCB201. Thursday, May 15, 2008. How do Wikipedians form consensus? That's an interesting question which has, in the past, been greatly debated. Before I discuss this issue however, I will briefly go into a bit of background information on what Wikipedia actually is and what it entails. Axel Bruns (2008) describes Wikipedia quite perfectly and simply in a number of dot points. Collaboratively edited online encyclopedia, in hundreds of languages. Content creation process organised ad hoc. Many ...

http://nb13kcb201.blogspot.com/2008/04/underbelly-gripping-drama.html
Sunday, April 27, 2008. Underbelly - Gripping Drama! Just a quick post to express how addicted I am to the new Australian series Underbelly! I find it fascinating that this type of drama was a huge part of real-life Australia for the best part of ten years. I am following the trial of Carl Williams closely and, after having bought the book, am trying to research the gangland war extensively. If anyone has any advice as to where to seek further information, please let me know. April 30, 2008 at 4:33 PM.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008. How is Web 2.0 diffferent to Web 1.0? There are a number of minor differences between Web 1.0 and Web 2.0 however for the purpose of this blog entry, one primary difference will comprise the main discussion point. Web 20 arguing that access to computer literature was relatively limited and communication. Was largely text based. Are all products of the Web 2.0 revolution. Iskold. NB13 KCB201 Blog: Wikipedia: the implications of open-content technology
http://nb13kcb201.blogspot.com/2008/04/introduction-of-wikipedia-wikipedia-is.html
Sunday, April 27, 2008. Wikipedia: the implications of open-content technology. Bauwens (in Bruns, 2008) explores the incentive for Internet users to become involved in proactive input and contribution towards an open content area arguing that financial gain rarely justifies a reason for participation. The “increase in use value, their [the participant’s] own learning and reputation” (Bauwens in Bruns, 2008) are the most commonly cited reasons for providing input. Is Wikipedia worth it? Katty S for KCB201: We're killing the newspaper!
http://kattys14.blogspot.com/2008/05/were-killing-newspaper.html
Katty S for KCB201. Saturday, May 10, 2008. We're killing the newspaper! After this weeks lecture on citizen journalism I thought I'd go into a bit more detail in this area, in particular what effects the online revolution of produsage has had on traditional newspaper formats. This is evident through some significant newspaper figures. Ironically, most newspapers now have websites as well as the printed version. Examples here include the online version of the Times. And the Courier Mail. We are wrongly a...
