Tuesday, February 26, 2013. Non-Rice Krispy Cereal Treats. I don't know why I stopped eating cereal, but I've had a half-empty box of Cheerios for about a year, and an unopened box of Franken Berry since Halloween. What's a girl to do with old cereal? Doesn't Franken Berry already have marshmallows? I fail to see the problem here. How do I make these delightful confections? The same way you make Rice Krispies Treats. Melt half a stick a butter in a big pot. Pour into a greased pan and let cool.

The Reluctant Domestic: September 2012
http://reluctant-domestic.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 21, 2012. People at my office always bring food and leave it in the break room. Cupcakes, pie, doughnuts, you name it. I call it throwing it to the wolves, and I mean that in the nicest possible way. It always, always. Its great if you need to get rid of leftovers. My leftover Thanksgiving desserts. Gone by lunchtime on both occasions. Does it multiply like tribbles? I started with this. (Thats what she said? And ended with this. Not pictured: My blood, sweat and tears. I love to eat, b...

The Reluctant Domestic: April 2012

Wednesday, April 25, 2012. This bread is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S. I've always been a master procrastinator, but Spring 2012 has been the semester of baking. Why do schoolwork when I can make stuff that I can stuff my face with? When my next banana started to turn, I just threw the whole thing in the freezer. I wasn't really thinking ahead. Oh let me be your sledgehammer. A better idea is to cut the banana into pieces and put them in a freezer bag. Don't mind the freezerburn. Re like me and. 2 eggs, beaten.

Friday, January 27, 2012. En-Thai-sing soup: Chicken-coconut with vegetables. I've made several soups and crock pot recipes over the past few weeks, but nothing that excited me enough to say, "I really. Need to blog about this." Until today! Brandon's Thai chicken-coconut soup with vegetables. From a fairly lame husband vs. wife column on CNN. 32 ounces chicken broth. 1 135 ounce can coconut milk. 1/3 cup fresh squeezed lime juice. 1 pound boneless chicken breast. 6 shiitake mushrooms, sliced thinly.

The Reluctant Domestic: Writing on the wall
http://reluctant-domestic.blogspot.com/2013/09/writing-on-wall.html
Saturday, September 14, 2013. Writing on the wall. The past few weeks have been spent taking down wallpaper. The kitchen, dinette, and two bedrooms came down easy, but I swear the foyer, stairway, and upstairs hallway paper were put up with Krazy Glue. Not just for fingers! After much frustration and ripped drywall, I finally found a winning combination. Roman's Piranha wallpaper remover concentrate. Along the way, I've found some interesting things written on the wall, probably by the original builder.

The Reluctant Domestic: July 2011

Monday, July 25, 2011. Awesome Etsy finds: Vinyl wall decals. Was I asking too much? Not according to my old friend Etsy. And Leen the Graphics Queen. I hadn't even considered vinyl decals until I stumbled across Leen's shop. Her awesome three panel decals with birds and trees. Fit my criteria perfectly. How hard could the others be? Give you the stinkeye. I then peeled the transfer paper up from the bottom instead of down from the top, which made for tired arms. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Reluctant Domestic: August 2011
http://reluctant-domestic.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 11, 2011. Dining set: Can she build it? When I moved to my new apartment, I didn't have much. I brought my bed, dresser, recliner, desk, computers, a small TV, clothes, and my cats. My couch. Was delivered the next day. A friend found a perfectly good coffee table in her apartment building and gave it to me. A co-worker friend moved right before I did and offered me one of those shelving units-with-baskets. Like this. I live on the second floor. I weigh just a few pounds more than the box.

The Reluctant Domestic: November 2011

Sunday, November 27, 2011. A Very Reluctant Thanksgiving, Part 2: Dinner. My dad prepared the turkey, while I handled the rest. I am going to break down this entry by dish. Seemed pretty straightforward, but even so, turkeys are intimidating. I mean, look at them. They'd kill you in your sleep if given the chance. This one lives near my office. Check out that death glare. Regardless, the bird was great. Nice and juicy, but with a crispy skin. Perfect. I'm a simple girl. I followed this recipe. While it w...
