Practicing Mammal: Respect AP part 8
http://practicingmammal.blogspot.com/2011/07/respect.html
Sunday, July 24, 2011. Respect AP part 8. Respect, as it relates to attachment, parenting, spousing or any other relational situations which are important to you, is largely what I was referring to in my last post, when I was talking about the need to understand another person's frustration. It's about what they are feeling. To tell a three year old that they shouldn't be angry about not being able to fit the entire box of Cheerios in their cereal bowl isn't going to be helpful. That said, telling her sh...

Practicing Mammal: We are mammals.
http://practicingmammal.blogspot.com/2013/08/we-are-mammals.html
Thursday, August 1, 2013. Dial into Nursing Freedom's Blog Carnival for World Breastfeeding Week. It serves us well to feed our babies at the breast. We are, after all, mammals. It is easy toforget, sometimes. I mean, it is true that we don't look like other mammals. We are more fashionably dressed, for example. Fashionable clothing can sometimes inhibit our ability to act like mammals. Mammals are usually defined as "raising their young in a warm and loving manner.". How we nurture. How we are. We must ...

Practicing Mammal: My Own Personal
http://practicingmammal.blogspot.com/2012/01/my-own-personal.html
Wednesday, January 18, 2012. It was a Saturday afternoon and I was about a week overdue. Alice wanted to get to confession at the Saturday night Mass, and Sparky had taken the boys out for haircuts. I don't really like saying, no I can't take you to confession, but I was really feeling kind of tired. That I should call the midwife and tell her that I felt funny. Well She said she was going to come over and check on me because I sounded funny. Oh, she's fine, she is three centimeters dilated. WHAT! Sparky...

Practicing Mammal: Attachment in the Early Years: part 3
http://practicingmammal.blogspot.com/2011/07/attachment-in-early-years-part-3.html
Thursday, July 14, 2011. Attachment in the Early Years: part 3. Attachment changes with the seasons of baby hood and toddler hood and beyond. What the child needs in terms of physical contact changes, and of course, sleep patterns and needs change as does the nursing relationship. But the premise of attachment remains the same. Keeping the relationship in tact. Once a toddler learns to walk, they want to use those legs! Here is a a scenario. Don't you start that crying. At some point, we unilaterally dec...

Practicing Mammal: Authority AP Part 10
http://practicingmammal.blogspot.com/2011/07/authority-ap-part-10.html
Thursday, July 28, 2011. Authority AP Part 10. The most profound misconceptions regarding Attachment Parenting lie in this area: authority. Many people believe that putting the relationship as the priority, over the issue. Is usurping one's own authority as a parent. When children "rise up" like a nation might against an oppressor, it is in defiance and rebellion against their parents. This often means opposing or leaving the very Faith that parents have worked so hard to cultivate in their children.

Practicing Mammal: July Babies
http://practicingmammal.blogspot.com/2012/07/july-babies.html
Tuesday, July 24, 2012. I guess it is only fair to write up Rosebud's birth story before July is over, as she is my other July baby. I had our last two babies at home, and recently I shared Huckleberry's birth. Which was not in July, but in January. At any rate, Rosebud asked me the other night while I was reading her bedtime book, which by the way is the Magician's Nephew, she asked me where she was born. I leaned her over my lap and pointed to a spot on the floor beside where I sleep. Nothing wakes Dad...

Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Mwooohhhaahhhahhhaaa.Attachment and the Teen Years.Part 5 of a way too long series. Teeeeennnnaaaaaggerrrss. The word alone is enough to strike fear in the heart of even the toughest adult. The good news is you don't have to read any new books. Attachment parenting is attachment parenting is attachment parenting. Not very long ago lets just say. They don't necessarily know where their lives are going but they Love God Deeply. And they love babies. Doesn't that just say it all?
