Tuesday, June 22, 2010. I went to the Keeping the Fires Burning dinner the other night and the sense of pride and celebration in the room was actually almost overwhelming. They honoured nine Grandmothers who had contributed to their communities. Some had been advocating and crafting a better life for their people for fifty years! Monday, July 26, 2010. Just reading an article about another giant old house in Osborne being torn down to make way for likely expensive condos. The house is 102 years old and area residents were lobbying to save it. See the article here. The line that stood out for me? Monday, July 19, 2010. Using the word "boyfriend". I don't think so. It just seems like a very teen-esque word. But there really aren't many, if any, other options. I don't mind the word partner although it has this way of sounding ambiguous. Often same-sex couples use the word because it wasn't, and still isn't, always legal for those couples to be married and then naturally use the words wife or husband. Posted by Janey M.
