This month has been busy, as usual in our family of 14! Seems like we just wrote an update yesterday, but looking back - November is gone already and I sit here now trying to recall what exactly we have done all month long. We are excited to have finally visited the church plant in our village. It is a plant from the larger Baptist church in the city and has a small group of regular attenders. God places the lonely in families. Tuesday, July 7, 2015. We had our consult with the surgeon at 12:15pm. He started the conversation with, "Don't be mad at me! I didn't start operating until 9am.". Apparently, it took an hour-and-a-half to get her IV and epidural in. Yes, an epidural as well as general anesthesia! And then use narcotics, as needed. We are continuing the Valium to prevent muscle spasms, which would be painful. The pressure sore on her. Heel is much improved! Under a physician's guidance, we opened and drained the sore about 2 weeks ago. The skin is now firm and dry and no longer warm or inflamed. Me: Uh.sure. As long as it will help me feel better. God places the lonely in families. Friday, July 17, 2015. One week down.5 to go. As Aliyah's body is going through the healing process, her pain levels ebb and flow. We are nowhere near getting off the pain meds; the combination of Oxycodone, Tylenol, and Valium are essential for her comfort right now. The inflammation is continuing to go down which is giving her more wiggle-room in her cast, which I believe is increasing her pain level as she shifts around. The sore under her arm is healing well.
