I will be hiking in what seems to be pretty standard Mountain Man attire: moccasins, breechclout, deerskin leggings, osnaburg shirt, wide-brimmed felt hat. By all accounts the most common footwear of a 19. Century trapper was deerskin moccasins. These could be made and repaired by the trapper himself with relative ease. Mexico to Canada on two feet. Laquo; and then…. A few good hikers. April 15th, 2009. I was packing and repacking before the PCT. One year ago I was sleeping outside a rose garden. Now I’m looking a buying a house and settling down. I’m also facing my first winter since September 2006. With that in mind I’ve sought out a few good hikers that will be on the PCT this year and hopefully keep me entertained as they thread their way to Canada. In no particular order they are:. Bronze's Mississippi Expedition Log. In 2006 I spent my summer vacation backpacking along the railroads of Northern Virginia, making a tramp tour of some of the most significant Civil War battlefields in the nation. In 2008 I attempted to sail from Capetown, South Africa to Brazil. In 2009, I set out on the Pacific Crest Trail with a pack mule and nothing but 19.
