Dave Blakely on Manchesterbeat - the group and music scene of Manchester in the 60s
http://www.manchesterbeat.com/groups/daveblakely/daveblakely.php
Dave Blakely and the Mike Timoney Three. My next door neighbour in the early sixties was Dave Blakeley who was the singer /compere of the old Warren night club. This was before it was converted into Quaffers Night Club. The strange thing about Quaffers was that there were no seats in the club. Everyone just stood around in a mass crowd watching, listening and dancing to the records and the Timoney 3. The group was fantastic and provided wonderful evenings for thousands of people. I remember Dave Blakely ...
The Beachcomber, Bolton on Manchesterbeat - the group and music scene of Manchester in the 60s
http://www.manchesterbeat.com/venues/bolton/beachcomber/beachcomber.php

I was wearing my new green sweater with a white polo shirt underneath, a pair of deliciously faded Wranglers and Chukka boots. They were onstage barely half an hour but managed to smash most of the equipement in that time. At the moment when Daltrey stuttered Why don't you all F-F-F-Fade Away we didn't - we were at the very centre of it all and left with our ears ringing. Saw all the great...
The Swinging Hangmen on Manchesterbeat - the group and music scene of Manchester in the 60s
http://www.manchesterbeat.com/groups/swinginghangmen/swinginghangmen.php
The Swinging Hangmen started out life as the Matadors (early 1964) and within months changed their name to the Hangmen and soon after when I took over in September1964 we had yet another name change to the Swinging Hangmen. We used to practice at the The Unity Club, Haslingden (now a private house), St Marys Junior School and then in the upstairs room of the Thorn Pub, the Bull, both in Haslingden, Bridge End – Helmshore and the Ambulance Hall in Haslingden (A very well known gig on Thursday nights).
