Thursday, July 17, 2014. Adventures in Dog Walking. Red Deer is not only full of green spaces, but these are also mostly connected by trails which makes it a great place to have a dog. And my dog for the summer loves coming along for bike rides! Three Mile Bend is an off-leash park with some low spots in the river to explore. Heritage Ranch has some equestrian trails too but is also good for confusing dogs by throwing their stick in the pond. And, unrelatedly, a sunset at Sylvan Lake because why not!

Tuesday, June 17, 2014. It's occurred to me that, even if nobody ever reads this thing, it's good to blog if only because I can't trust my computer and want at least my most important photos to be stored online somehow. So! With that in mind, thus follows the tale of the latest family wedding:. A much preferable version of the "reception slideshow". Oh these girls are up to no good. Recreating a childhood photo, and then getting very, very silly. Jared wrote this masterpiece somewhere around.

Monday, January 27, 2014. More views of Ottawa. Another year come and gone, and I have disappointingly few pictures commemorating its passing but here are a couple at least. I did make it back to Alberta over the break but literally didn't take a single photo while there so here are some from Ottawa in December:. I promise eventually I'll have pictures of other buildings but their Christmas lights were really cute! This is the lobby of the Hilton in Hull, quite a beautiful building (on the inside).

Tuesday, December 23, 2014. On one of my first days back in Alberta, the weather was perfect for a couple hours of cross-country skiing. Bien sûr, il y a des traces de l'héritage franco-albertain du région. Jared wrote this masterpiece somewhere around. This post mentions Skiing. Where I was, if it wasn't obvious already: Bonnyville, AB, Canada. Sunday, December 21, 2014. The choir did a few songs and each of the premiers had recorded messages. Tuesday, February 03, 2015. Rue du Petit Champlain, in the lower city. Full of art galleries, restaurants, tourist shops, and ice sculptures! A hilariously repurposed church on Grande Allée, now a used books, tattered furniture, and records bazaar. Endlessly entertaining. View from the highest point of the Plains of Abraham of the Carnaval itself. Sledding, bumper cars on ice, hot tubs, wine, and all kinds of things that it was far too cold out to actually experience in full! This post mentions Carnaval.

Thursday, August 21, 2014. Faced with the choice of whether to make money for the last two weeks of summer or visit family instead, I feel I've chosen well, after getting to witness this guy learn to ride his bike. Less than two weeks until I'm back in school, so I'm going to take in all the moments I can. Jared wrote this masterpiece somewhere around. Saturday, May 31, 2014. Living in Red Deer for the summer has afforded me a new perspective on Alberta - not only because this part of the province has its differences from what I'm used to, but also because Red Deer is completely full of wildlife. And although I forgot my camera charger in Ottawa, the new one I ordered from Hong Kong showed up yesterday so I can finally document this properly! This is Bower Pond, a five minute walk from where I'm living. Jared wrote this masterpiece somewhere around.

Monday, September 15, 2014. Not one of the main buildings but that's what they mostly looked like. Some "ruins" on the grounds include a chapel and this rather mystical arch. These are to be found in a few places too. I thought this one was a good motto. Lots of gardens to be found! Of course the park is full of hiking, including this creek bed. Downstream a bit the water goes right into the ground! Jared wrote this masterpiece somewhere around. This post mentions Gatineau Park. The maid of honour had us...

Monday, September 30, 2013. First Impressions of Ottawa. Haven't been taking enough photos yet - but here's Carleton's Dunton Tower over the Rideau Canal, my first weekend here. Here's the Peace Tower all lit up for some show. I am loving the landmarks and general feel of the city! And the canal again, after the trees began to change. It's pretty fantastic having this and the Arboretum right by my university! Jared wrote this masterpiece somewhere around. This post mentions Carleton University.
