Andrew and Nancy in Amman!: October 2006
http://andrewheiss.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Andrew and Nancy in Amman! Tuesday, October 10, 2006. Before we left for Jordan, they told us to avoid the salads. No lettuce. None. Before I went to Russia, they told us to steer clear of salds. No lettuce. None! And it is true. It's hard to have salad taken away from you when that is really one of the most common vegetables eaten in the United States. In the Middle East it can make you sick. In Russia it can make you sick. Why? That said...
Andrew and Nancy in Amman!: The next leg of our journey
http://andrewheiss.blogspot.com/2006/08/next-leg-of-our-journey.html
Andrew and Nancy in Amman! Tuesday, August 15, 2006. The next leg of our journey. We're busy finishing packing, cleaning the apartment (I just found a huge cockroach under the table! And thinking about leaving Jordan. A sad thought, but there is a golden lining: we'll be traveling through the United Arab Emirates and Turkey on our way home. Maybe we can post something while in Turkey! Andrew and Nancy in Amman!: The Siq
http://andrewheiss.blogspot.com/2006/06/siq.html
Andrew and Nancy in Amman! Tuesday, June 13, 2006. So our entrance fee to the park for 2 days was 4 JD instead of the 27 JD we would have spent with just ISIC cards.). Earthquake. The Nabateans. The pictures below are of the aquaducts. (Behind Nancy and the Statues is the aquaduct). A Dam in the Siq with Aquaducts. Nancy on a big rock above the Aquaduct. Andrew in a tunnel by the Aquaduct. Near the Bab as-Siq there is an Obelisk Tomb. ...
Andrew and Nancy in Amman!: Not Constantinople
http://andrewheiss.blogspot.com/2006/08/not-constantinople.html
Andrew and Nancy in Amman! Wednesday, August 23, 2006. Here we are in Istanbul, easily the most European city we've set foot in since leaving Austria. Me by a hollow (still alive) tree in Topkapi. Our guide was pretty humorous. He didn't speak English very well. Surprizingly no one speaks English very well here. Combine that with my lack of Turkish and it is pretty much a recipe for disaster. I would have thought a lot more...Andrew and I ...
Andrew and Nancy in Amman!: Oh, no: Out again!
http://andrewheiss.blogspot.com/2006/08/oh-no-out-again.html
Andrew and Nancy in Amman! Sunday, August 13, 2006. Oh, no: Out again! Yes, we ran out of water today.again. Hopefully this is the last time. Afterall, this is. Run out of water. It's a toss up! A few weeks ago we decided to keep all of our water bottles to see how much we were drinking. We collected quite a few- and most of those are 2 litres! The Water Bottle Graveyard. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). The next leg of our journey.
Andrew and Nancy in Amman!: Egyptian falafel dudes
http://andrewheiss.blogspot.com/2006/08/egyptian-falafel-dudes.html
Andrew and Nancy in Amman! Wednesday, August 09, 2006. When I got over to him, he introduced himself as Franco - hardly an Arabc name - from Egypt. After talking for a while, I discovered that he owned a pizzeria in Milan for 8 years and spoke some Italian. So, we hit it off. All in a warm, soft, pita bread. And left, not really thinking to go back, for some dumb reason. I got a falafel sandwich and ate it happily. Almost every day this su...
Andrew and Nancy in Amman!: Funeral Wail -- 24 hours and counting
http://andrewheiss.blogspot.com/2006/08/funeral-wail-24-hours-and-counting.html
Andrew and Nancy in Amman! Sunday, August 13, 2006. Funeral Wail - 24 hours and counting. We found that it had not. So, after hearing it again this evening we went out onto our balcony to record it. As we were doing so we noticed quite a few fancy cars parking and then people walking toward some unknown location. A Sample of the Wail. Andrew said, "Do you want to go for a walk? Andrew (in Arabic): What's happening? Guard (in English): What?
Andrew and Nancy in Amman!: Water Bottle Battles
http://andrewheiss.blogspot.com/2006/08/water-bottle-battles.html
Andrew and Nancy in Amman! Sunday, August 13, 2006. We have a lot of fun things that we do in our apartment to keep Ezra (and ourselves) entertained. Ezra and I will play a game kind of like hide-and-go-seek, but instead of Ezra ever finding me, I jump out and scare him and chase him all around the apartment. Ezra also likes to get "stuck." This involves tickle torture. We also have been known to engage in pillow fights. Oh, no: Out again!
Andrew and Nancy in Amman!: Good ol' Dubai
http://andrewheiss.blogspot.com/2006/08/good-ol-dubai.html
Andrew and Nancy in Amman! Monday, August 21, 2006. Dubai seems to me to be a city of "new" wealth. Everything about the city screams newness! We arrived at the airport and it was definitely a lot better kept-up than Amman or Egypt. It was also quite a bit hotter! We knew that it would be hot at the beach, and that we would probably burn so I insisted that we lather up with sun screen. It's probably expired by now or something since it...
Andrew and Nancy in Amman!: Goodbye, Jordan
http://andrewheiss.blogspot.com/2006/08/goodbye-jordan.html
Andrew and Nancy in Amman! Tuesday, August 15, 2006. Hopefully this post doesn't get too sappy. But it is. Our last day here, which is rather sad. Soon we'll have to head back to Orem, BYU, school, and work- real life. There are a lot of things that I'm going to miss about living in Jordan:. Signs in more than one language. Our bridge (the yellow and blue one in the picture above). Falafel on every street corner. The company of the Slades.

Manderly-Rose
Manderly rose on etsy. Sunday, May 17, 2009. What's New at ManderlyRose? I have been on a voyage of self-discovery. Where should I be focusing my energy? What am I good at? What do I enjoy? I tell people that I'm searching for my bliss. That usually gets a few eyebrow raises. None-the-less, I've continued on my path, with hills and plataues. Have I found my way? I have found an interesting path for now, and I'm good with that. Once I have things buttoned up, I will work on distribution options. I hav...
Livleen's Media Blog
Thursday, 19 January 2012. The Production of Movies. As the semster winds down the end of term projects are piling up. This semster I've had to make quite a few movies for my classes. While putting these videos together I can't help but think how long and comlpicated the entire process is and I only have to make videos that are a couple minutes long! The next phase, production, is where all the visuals and live audiences are captured onto film. This phase is usually the most intense and tiring as the...

Wednesday, August 5, 2015. Did you know sleep is really important to your immune health? Like, really, super, crazy important to being healthy. And for some people, it is even more important than others. Sleep deprivation causes the releasing of inflammatory cytokines. Basically cell signaling proteins that are released by cells and impact the behavior of other cells). So basically, if you are sleep deprived, your body is messed up. Since pregnancy my sleep has been very. And I've always been one who cou...
