Metamorphosis: Summertime!
http://silkepowers.blogspot.com/2015/05/summertime.html
Friday, May 29, 2015. Even though it's only May, summer has definitely arrived in Georgia! Daniel is finished with teaching for the school year and we are looking forward to long days spent relaxing in the backyard, painting, reading, enjoying good food, spending time with friends, going to the beach, and much more. It'll be a time to take care of ourselves, unwind, renew and recharge! I wish you all a beautiful summer with time to play, weather to enjoy and plenty of whatever makes you happy! Shine the ...

Metamorphosis: February 2015
http://silkepowers.blogspot.com/2015_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 26, 2015. My last painting that's finished (I have two in progress) turned into this beautiful and intense gorilla. Some of you may have already seen him on Facebook, but I thought I'd show you some progress photos here. I added some yellow, which mixed with the teal to make a beautiful green. I also added some phthalo turquoise for a little contrast. When I turned the canvas to see what I might discover, I immediately "saw" a proud gorilla. Can you see it? We have had some cold and ra...

Metamorphosis: September 2014
http://silkepowers.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, September 30, 2014. Just a quick post today. I'm feeling inspired to decorate for fall and I want to take advantage of that! Of course, decorating always brings with it a good bit of dusting and rearranging. It's going to be a busy day. However, I wanted to share with you this zucchini cake I made the other day. My friend Rachel shared the recipe (click here. And it is delicious! I have much of it sliced in the freezer for a quick snack if needed. PS No time for a proper postscript today. A few ...

Metamorphosis: January 2015
http://silkepowers.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 26, 2015. Inspiration, Synchronicity and Stephanie Plum. So Inspiration. A good topic. And an interesting topic for me. I get a lot of inspiration from the usual things: being out in nature, art, playing with our pets, reading inspirational books, listening to mediations, good music, etc. Acrylics on 12 x 12 in. canvas. However, when push comes to shove and I really need an energy and mood booster, I turn to Stephanie Plum. Yes, I admit it! Who is she you ask? Available in my Etsy Shop.

Metamorphosis: Love Languages
http://silkepowers.blogspot.com/2015/05/love-languages.html
Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Last week, I had an epiphany of sorts! It's amazing to me that I can be almost 50 and am still getting to know what makes me the way I am. I've been thinking about this all week and have to write this down, mostly for myself, which is why I am posting some beautiful garden photos for you to enjoy while I ramble on. I always love when the amaryllis bloom on the side of the house. They were one of my mother's favorite flowers and always seem to bloom on Mother's Day. And guess what "...

Metamorphosis: April 2015

Tuesday, April 21, 2015. To Plan or Not to Plan. For years I have envied people who can make a plan and then stick to it. It's a no brainer for them. They make a plan so that they know exactly what to do when. I finally, finally realized that I am just not wired that way. Then it dawned on me: I make plans to get inspired. To brainstorm. To see the possibilities. To get my thinking unstuck and organized for a minute or two. And yet, I still plan because I love how a good plan organizes me for the moment ...

Metamorphosis: November 2014
http://silkepowers.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Sunday, November 23, 2014. Color on a rainy November day. Why is it that when life is gearing up to be very busy, all I suddenly want to do is paint? Oh well, it's ok with me, especially when the result is such an intense wolf face! He looks straight into my soul it seems. This following week is going to be busy and so much fun. We are getting ready for Thanksgiving, my very favorite american holiday and then for family coming to visit. And there's still more to paint! With much love and gratitude,.

Metamorphosis: First Steps
http://silkepowers.blogspot.com/2015/05/painting-from-heart.html
Friday, May 8, 2015. It's been a while since I posted and I've been thinking much about the last topic of planning vs not planning. There's another aspect to it that painting has revealed to me. I don't know about you, but I learn so much from the creative part of my self. When I think about things in the future: projects, travel, home improvement, paintings or anything else that could potentially be big and important . I instantly feel overwhelmed. But at the same time I have learned through the way I p...
