The condensed version for the screen-reading-averse I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas day walking up the volcanic mountain on Kolombangara Island. Which is next to Ghizo Is. and about 1700 m high. OK, more detail now. Sunstroke from the day before? After not-very-much-sleep I got up early, in time to catch sunr...

Saturday, June 24, 2006. Silay, the Paris of Negros. It goes without saying that the Philippines have something for everyone. Whether you’re looking for shandy in a can. Beans in a dessert, the world’s largest presidential doll collection or just an enthusiastic renewal of your gun licence, you can find it all here. Some days I wake up and the plethora of options freak me out a little. Some days I just end up staying in bed. Hay naku. Turn that s &%. Stepped in to assist us in our wants, which at that mo...

Saturday, May 27, 2006. Woah, Nice Mangoes. Dear Elizabeth (a devoted reader writes),. Do you know where all the joy goes when it leaves Canberra in early March? Does it relocate to Sydney like everything else? And, more importantly, how do I reclaim my lost fingers from the ACT Government? However, contrary to popular belief, Canberran joy does not relocate to Sydney for the winter months, even if half the Canberran population does. GO ON, HAVE SOME MORE CANBERRAN LIFEBLOOD YOU PINOY FASCISTS. On the pr...

Saturday, August 26, 2006. You Fill Up My Senses, Like WD40. If you want success, find a suitable mentor. Emulate their achievements, workshop your problems, seek their advice. Older people have gained wisdom through years of experience. In your twenties, you simply can’t know it all. Conventional wisdom, maybe Confucius or Oprah said something like this once. Dear Tommy Lee,. When I grow up, I want to be a rock star just like you. I discovered I wanted to be a rock star after watching your show,. I’ve b...

Thursday, September 14, 2006. Why does everybody keep apologizing to me about Steve Irwin? I mean, I know he’s set back the international acceptance of Australians as real, sober and complex human beings by at least a decade, but seriously, I can deal with that. I’m a tough girl. Paul Hogan probably did worse: If anything, could you please sympathise with me over Crocodile Dundee? And what about Yahoo Serious? Did I miss something? Posted by Pinoy Zilla at 4:24 AM. But father we’re at the races! Not true...

Saturday, July 15, 2006. Good For What Ails You. It’s been a while since I last wrote, since I've been a little ill. I don’t usually like to brag about my own achievements, but I often do anyway so why break a habit: the last couple of weeks have seen me blowing chunks with the dignity and grace of a professional athlete. It’s just as well that the Pinoys have as many ways of curing you as poisoning you. Here are a few of my favourites:. This is the number-one cure all for everything. Hungry? This one is...

Monday, November 27, 2006. Only a condensed version this time, you'll be pleased to hear. I'm still here, alive and kicking (lots of kicking, not so much life). Have just been to Port Moresby for a few days for a meeting, and now work is even more crazy than it's been so far. Surely it will let up soon, all these jobs have their lulls, right? 3 You'll have to make the rest up. I'm tired and going home for now. Posted by laura @ 5:38 pm. Thursday, November 16, 2006. I'm sure there must be another way to add a photo to your 'profile'. guess I'll figure all that out some time (along with changing the colours and the layout of this template! Good excuse to play with the inbuilt camera on my laptop though, and a fine distraction while loading CS2. slow slow slow. Will I regret going for Intel, or not waiting until the next chip comes out?
