Dan In Nepal . With Manisha UK Educating Children Empowering Communities. Friday, November 28, 2014. A Sports Day and a Good Bye. With visits to Bhalebas and Kolkal this week, I've now visited all our schools. In doing so I have met many inspiring teachers and some truly amazing children. Bhalebas and Kolkal were no exceptions! Like so many other villages, Bhalebas really put effort into making sure we didn't get bored in the evening and the evening was filled with some very enthusiastic dancing! Barbara...

Dan In Nepal . With Manisha UK Educating Children Empowering Communities. Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Storms, computers and head teachers. By morning the weather had improved greatly and we were able to get about to some teaching! Barbara spent most of the day teaching English while I took groups from years 6, 7 and 8 to the ICT room (with the electricity mostly working once again! Wednesday, October 15, 2014. My first week in Nepal - blown away! Note: This blog was meant to go up a few days ago, but a ...

Dan In Nepal . With Manisha UK Educating Children Empowering Communities. Thursday, September 04, 2014. 4 weeks to the off! Having only recently qualifed as a teacher, the prospect to telling some experienced teachers how to go about their jobs is quite daunting, but I'm assured they are receptive to new approaches. In turn I've no doubt I'll benefit from having my own pedagogy challenged and will be a better teacher for the experience. I'm looking forward to a very much two way learning exchange.

Dan In Nepal . With Manisha UK Educating Children Empowering Communities. Monday, March 02, 2015. It never rains, but it pours. With my wedding now done, life in Nepal is returning to something like normality (or at least as close to normality as life in Nepal ever comes). One exception to this rule is the weather. One day I think summer is coming and I'm putting my shorts on, but the next it looks like monsoon has come several months early and I'm getting a severe. Drenching on the way to school. I took...

Dan In Nepal . With Manisha UK Educating Children Empowering Communities. Thursday, April 09, 2015. School in Nepal: A Govian Utopia? After an incredible six months in Nepal I'm now back in England, so this will be my final blog post. Of course, the person it was hardest to say goodbye to was my wife. I would have laughed at anyone who told me I would come back from Nepal as a married man, but I couldn't be happier to be wrong! For me this will always be what I remember the trip for most of all.

RANDOM THOUGHTS
Finding meaning and stories in randomness. Tuesday, September 22, 2009. The sky burst into numerous colors displaying, amongst them, the most beautiful ones. Each of them fought with one another to be more visible and the result was an eclectic mix of all. Suddenly, as if angry by the chaos the colors were causing, the sun burst out diffusing his sunlight, erasing the kaleidoscope the hues had made. Now there was only one color, the bright yellow. She almost broke into a jig, but contained herself. As sh...
Silly Talk - Pay No Attention!!
Silly Talk - Pay No Attention! Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Who do you want to be when you grow up child? Well, that writing is not on the wall yet, however, there’s one definite crack on a glass ceiling. Microsoft Inc. announces Satya Nadella to be their new CEO, taking over Steve Balmer who stepped down earlier in 2013. Only the 3. Glass Ceiling, well, is one of that unique category of biases in general, which is actually well grounded in facts! Staya Nadella has broken that very thin, and very invisib...

We have now completed all of our school visits – it has been a busy six months and in particular the last 6 weeks have been very hectic and it has all gone so quickly. Hannah In Nepal . With Manisha UK Educating Children Empowering Communities. Sunday, 4 December 2016. On Wednesday we visited Shree Kalika and were halfway through teaching a lesson when suddenly everything had to be stopped, we had to leave, the strike was about to start and we needed to get back to Tansen as quickly as possible before they banned all traffic from the roads. Dan and I have been coming in to the office to plan a science training session, but with patchy internet (is that on strike too?

Jaz In Nepal . With Manisha UK Educating Children Empowering Communities. Thursday, 18 June 2015. We were delighted that Jasmine (Jaz) Morris, Worcester University QTS, not only came through our NQT selection process in March, but was even more enthusiastic to continue with placement planning after the awful news of the earthquakes in Nepal hit us in April. Thanks and over to you, Jaz! The trustees of Manisha UK. Manisha UK not only is a fantastic charity that does a lot of work in Nepal, but the first t...
