February 2, 2012. February 2, 2012. Why most UX is shite. I was invited to speak at the MonkiGras. Event this week where getting a little sweary and ranty is kind of encouraged (it goes well with the craft beer consumption that is an integral part of the conference mix). This was my contribution. If you’re interested, the five signs (aside from simply *being* Path. Being Seamless, and. It’s not that simple right. So, I changed my topic to ‘Why Most UX is Shite’. Fight the dark side of Lean UX with the Experience Canvas. On October 3, 2013. We can’t it change now… can we? Wouldn’t it be nice if we had something that helped us steer away from these arguments while there was still time? The dark side of Lean UX. The result of that is that you only make incremental changes in your product, because you’re not ‘allowed’ to make game-changing improvements. It ends up being a pile of little ideas that add up to nothing…. Driving consensus for its own sake. It’s OK...

Design, Project Management and Enterprise Software Development. Bloggin the personal stuff. I don’t normally post about my personal things, but this is a little something close to my heart. A few weeks ago I was visiting some friends and next door to them, was this little brumby pony, at best 12 hands high (or about shoulder height to the average human). The other two ponies, because they were all so young, died because they were pulled away from their mothers far too early. Run free and safe young ones.

Using Cards in User Experience | Ash Donaldson

Exploring a world of misinformation. 17 December, 2010 / Ash. Using Cards in User Experience. IDEO Method Cards in use. Lately, there’s been a trend of people creating decks of cards for use in UX. From IDEO’s Method Cards. To the AT-ONE project’s Touch Point Deck. These cards are externalised snippets of knowledge, and can be used for inspiration, as a memory jog, mapping a sequence, or planning. This is where cards can come in handy. Putting knowledge on cards does two key things:. A little anxiety is ...

Identity, Recognition and Appreciation – Interesting Developments
http://www.adambraimbridge.com/2007/02/identity-recognition-and-appreciation
I find your thoughts intriguing and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Identity, Recognition and Appreciation. I’ve always held that there’s very little difference between recognition and appreciation. Whether it’s something we’ve evolved (some kind of neurological synesthesia) or perhaps learned (an infant recognizing its mother will surely feel a sense of appreciation), we’re all guilty of getting the two mixed up. And all that. Of course, sometimes it’s impossible to do this if the produc...If you&...

Design, Project Management and Enterprise Software Development. I started a new engagement today, which is nothing really new. But today for one reason or another I found myself much liking the way I went home. I found myself thinking, I wonder what all my friends think or see on their ways home. What do they see, what do they go past, what’s their experience of the trip home from a hard day earning a crust? Well for those of you who are interested in my answers to that question, please read on. Hmm one ...
