http://maorimediaresearch.blogspot.com/2004/07/what-is-media-sphere.html

Maori Media / RESEARCH. What is "Media Sphere"? The word media sphere was chosen in preference to other more familiar terms, such as ‘the media’ (alluding to an industry or economic sector), or ‘the media-scape’ (alluding to the perspective of urban citizens, as in ‘city-scape’). For its part, the term ‘media sphere’ was coined to associate the media both with Lotman’s concept of the ‘semiosphere’ with the Habermasian notion of the ’public sphere’ (the idea is more fully elaborated in Hartley, 1996).

http://maorimediaresearch.blogspot.com/2004/07/mass-media-as-tool-for-maori-political.html

Maori Media / RESEARCH. Mass Media as a tool for Maori political mobilisation. The use of information technologies by Indigenous people remains linked to traditional forms of communication. Technology does not replace traditional communication forms; rather it offers Indigenous communities another tool for communicating. In this way, Indigenous media producers appropriate technology for their own ends. This section presents an account of the latest research findings on "MAORI MEDIA, A Study of the Maori ...
