Oak Valley - Maralinga Tjarutja

Located in the far western region of South Australia, the Maralinga Tjarutja land was handed back to the Maralinga people in January 1985. It was passed by both houses of Parliament in December 1984 and proclaimed in January 1985. Maralinga people resettled on the land in 1995 and named the place Oak Valley Community. Bordering the Great Victoria Desert, Oak Valley boasts some beautiful scenery - brilliant red soil, native eucalypts and of course, the native Desert Oak which the township is named after.
