sojourn with me: December 2012

Sunday, December 9, 2012. Logic and Theology: Grad School Speech. On my Facebook page a few weeks ago I asked people why they do, or do not believe in the existence of God. As part of my graduate studies I needed to deliver two speeches. I chose to do one that would illustrate a primary reason for my faith. Video: Logic and Theology. Transcript: Logic and Theology. CS Lewis, a professor at Cambridge University had this to say about Jesus Christ. “I am trying to prevent anyone from the foolish s...When so...

sojourn with me: Farewell Pilanesberg
http://sojournwithme-sojourner.blogspot.com/2015/05/farewell-pilanesberg.html
Tuesday, May 5, 2015. This was my last trip into Pilanesberg. After 19 years since my last visit this visit was full of wonderful surprises. Alas, I did not see leopard, buffalo or sable, but the lion kill, kudu and elephant sparring, rhinos, picnics, and so many other wonderful sites brought me incredible joy and worship to God. Thank you for joining me on this virtual safari. Posted by another Mike. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Husband, Father, Musician, Student, Wanderer, Wonderer.

Monday, June 15, 2015. Music for a Monday: More "Ecclesiastical" Music. Last week we heard "I'd Love to Change the World" and I noted that it has an ecclesiastical bent to it along the lines of the ancient writing of King Solomon. King Solomon is often regarded as the wisest man who ever lived. His musings on life are recorded in three books included in the Old Testament of the Bible: Proverbs. The erotic love poem Song of Solomon. And the aforementioned Ecclesiastes. Posted by another Mike. Written by K...

sojourn with me: November 2012
http://sojournwithme-sojourner.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 24, 2012. It has been a long silence on this blog. I am not happy about that. The noise in my head is deafening. Finding my voice has been a challenge and continues to be a challenge: more noise stuck in my head. Now to attempt to calm the din and find my voice. Traveling home on Mother's Day I called my mom from the airport and wished her a happy Mother's Day. My dad was sleeping so I didn't speak with him. Then this fall my wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary! Take My New Pers...

sojourn with me: February 2011
http://sojournwithme-sojourner.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Really, why keep lying to America? This quote below is a stunning example of the way politicians lie and obfuscate the truth. This is yet another example of the Democrat party and the Obama administration lying to the American people about what happened in the financial meltdown. Geithner tells bold faced lie to American people. Here is the truth…. 8221; (Sic.) is only half the truth. Do you know why banks were making bad loans? Convenient for them that the collapse happened...

sojourn with me: Music for a Monday: I'd Love to Change the World - Ten Years After - Alvin Lee

Monday, June 8, 2015. Music for a Monday: I'd Love to Change the World - Ten Years After - Alvin Lee. This is one of my favorite songs. Love the groove and energy, the different moods, the lyrics, and honestly, I love the desperation. There is a sense of frustration and lost-ness in this song that is very "ecclesiastical." I chose this particular video because I really liked the opening comments from Alvin Lee. I hope you will find another version of this song that has more fidelity. But I don't know wha...

Thursday, September 5, 2013. Book Review: The Coach Model. 8220;Coaching is not about certificates, it’s about being helpful to others”. Recently, Bob Tiede. Introduced me to The Coach Model. Coaching is an ongoing intentional conversation that empowers a person or group to fully live out God’s calling. Coaches empower people to think more deeply, discover their own path and experience empowerment to realize that path. Written as an equation Listen ask allow = empower. 8221; Remember, 1) it is not. sojourn with me: Not quite "Ecclesiastical" but just as problematic...
http://sojournwithme-sojourner.blogspot.com/2015/07/not-quite-ecclesiastial-but-just-as.html
Saturday, July 18, 2015. Not quite "Ecclesiastical" but just as problematic. Another "problem" song, not quite Ecclesiastical. Here's an astute look into the world of relationships, and probably marriage. All of the problem, none of the solution. How to get two inherently selfish people to live together? I really love this song. Such a powerful metaphor, if only he had a more powerful solution. What is your solution to the "problem of Hitler"? Posted by another Mike.
