How could the government not own up to the fact that there were still soldiers missing there? We should of been able to win the Korean war and maybe Vietnam would of turned out better, but no the Government was not prepared for a war and we had to end up in a stallmate. When Veterans come home. Just another UMW Blogs weblog. 1st Oct, 2008. The first thing that came out at me was that the government was planning to bulk up the amount of troops in Europe. This was happening right when the armistice was signed. Now the government had to worry more on demobilization. They were not ready or equipped to make this happening as quickly as a lot of the troops would like to happen. They tried to come up with many plans but these plans were too involved for the army at the time.

They had the sergeants who yelled at you and make you feel like crap. You had to march with all your gear on your back. When Veterans come home. Just another UMW Blogs weblog. 20th Oct, 2008. This part of the book was very interesting. Just seeing what he did with the rest of his life and that he got back to civilian life alright makes me happy. It is really cool that he was so interested in poetry. What caught me the most was that he was thinking about becoming a communist, after he fought for democracy. Luckily he didn’t join the communist party and become a victim of the red scare. It affected the civilians back at home.

When Veterans come home. Just another UMW Blogs weblog. 29th Sep, 2008. You don’t see the same amount of patriotism and ready to fight in WWI as you do in the Civil War or the Revolution. Maybe this is caused because the fighting was in Europe and not in America. We see the American government institute the draft for the first time. This was needed because there wasn’t the same amount of volunteers that we see in the Civil War. We do see the use of black soldiers carelessly, like in the Civil War.
