Past Updates and Details. November 15, 2006. Marc becomes ill with what we think is the flu but which turns out to be a very rare and aggressive blood cancer. He goes into respiratory failure, is not expected to live, but survives due to his last hope, an oscillating ventilator. Doctors call his recovery truly “a miracle.”. November 27, 2006 – May 2007. March 16, 2007. May 3-10, 2007. May 11, 2007. The new donor’s stem cells are flown to Vancouver and Marc receives them through transfusion. May 21, 2007.
