Living in Central Victoria. Silken petals glimmering in the early morning sun,. At home on waste ground. Sustained only by meagre offerings from summer’s skies. This group of hollyhocks growing on a hillside near the old Castlemaine tip are a surprising sight. Perhaps they are the remnants of an old garden. I took these photographs in early 2015. The Manchester Reef, Chewton | margaretgriffin
https://margaretgriffin.wordpress.com/2015/07/26/the-manchester-reef-chewton
Living in Central Victoria. The Manchester Reef, Chewton. Most weeks, Katie and I spend time walking in the local bushland. After I have shopped at the Wesley Hill market on Saturday mornings, we often go for a walk in the bushland around nearby Chewton. During the latter half of the 1850s, what is now quiet bushland, was a mining and industrial landscape dotted with temporary settlements. It is common to see evidence of the activity of those times on our walks. Reported on ‘The Gunpowder Outrage a...

What can you make from bits and bobs, odds and ends, and stuff at the back of cupboards. Fairy costumes finally revealed! Been sitting on this for a while , waiting for our newest endeavour to launch. So spent a lot of time trying to work out how I could afford unique fairy costumes and decided that the upshot was that I could not. So lots of head scratching later, here is the result. Have made a few now and am taking them into the studio to photograph later this week but this is the prototype. Silk wine...

What can you make from bits and bobs, odds and ends, and stuff at the back of cupboards. Peacock Feather Fairy Wand. Oh dear, a mad busy week with a very cool project on the go. Not quite ready to be able to share it yet but have high hopes that it will be fabulous (and it really needs to be! The ribbons, ditto, well who doesn’t have tons of scrappy bits of ribbon lying about salvaged from cards, clothing tags, wherever (normal people I guess). Jul 21, 2012. This will go perfectly with the fairy dress.

My view of the natural world. Out of My Mind. The Call of the Wind. March 26, 2015. The Port Fairy Folk Festival has now been and gone for another year. I loved almost every minute of it, but the highlight for me was attending the concert given by Buffy Sainte-Marie. She is the most extra-ordinary woman, and gave a sensational performance – the memory of that night will live on for me…. While visiting the Dunkeld. In the Grampians later that day, Fred and I found a Labyrinth. And tagged buffy sainte-marie.

Living in Central Victoria. March 30, 2018 - 11 Responses. One of my regular walks is in the grounds of the former senior campus of the Castlemaine Secondary College. In the period leading up to the school’s relocation to another site, the grounds were increasingly unloved as only essential maintenance was being performed. I have begun taking photographs of the site as a creative project. 8230;…….so I took a closer look. To my eyes, the spidery shadows were like the fine lines of etchings. The decorative...
