MY BLOG

Wednesday, 4 April 2018. I'm enjoying my "diversion from planned route" into Marken Mice. Three are in the process of escaping from needle and linen. Stage one is the foundation - not your normal Kloster Block but over six fabric threads. Stage two is cut threads, woven bars and eyelets. Stage three is filling stitch. Apart from one frustrating episode of reverse stitching these have been a therapeutic diversion but will soon be complete and it will be back to Arabian Nights:). Links to this post. Our Le...

MARGARET'S BLOG: After a short break...

https://margaretmyblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/after-short-break.html

Saturday, 4 July 2015. After a short break. Winter is truly here. The temperatures have dropped, snow is falling in the South and rain is falling in the North. Great weather to sit inside with my stitching. Even so, I haven't produced much. Currently the little crosses of my stitching are producing Christmas goodies:. However I wanted an Advent tree for me so am stitching the same chart but in DMC115 monotone. And in a lapse of my usual commonsense I started on this. Of course that cannot all be price an...

MARGARET'S BLOG: August 2015

https://margaretmyblog.blogspot.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, 27 August 2015. An update for Kazumi. My friend Kazumi sent a beautiful lacquered lip mirror key chain which the HD3QBEM promptly attached to the bag she uses. What a lovely thoughtful birthday gift. 和美さん、母が喜んでいます。早速日曜日に利用しているバッグにつけておきました。ありがとうございます。 Links to this post. Saturday, 22 August 2015. The big, the small and the epic error. Spring is showing her face and my garden has both big daffodils. And the teeny weeny miniature ones. This week I plan to lace the panels for the Sampler Casket&#46...

MARGARET'S BLOG: I will I will... I hope I will

https://margaretmyblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-will-i-will-i-hope-i-will.html

Saturday, 11 July 2015. I will I will. I hope I will. Currently I have two WIPs that I am determined to finish which will give me time to decide on my next project. My Sampler Casket needs to be finish-finished and there are also two pieces that need construction and some quilted placemats that need a binding. Sounds like enough to keep me busy doesn't it? However today the HD3QBEM had a list of chores that needed doing so we went off into the City and I parked her at the yarn shop while I. Anyway it was...

MARGARET'S BLOG: A wonderful package from Sunny Spain

https://margaretmyblog.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-wonderful-package-from-sunny-spain.html

Friday, 7 August 2015. A wonderful package from Sunny Spain. Sent me from Spain.(With apologies for the fuzzy photo). The beautiful cotton fabrics will be ever so useful and I love the little needlebook and purse. Have a closer look at the mermaid. Isn't she wonderful. The fabric is a rich velvet and the embellishing is exquisite. I love the little bobbins on the cord ends too. Thank you very very much Sheryl. 7 August 2015 at 19:42. What lovely gifts, I love the mermaid. 8 August 2015 at 00:18. The need...

MARGARET'S BLOG: The casket is on hold....

https://margaretmyblog.blogspot.com/2015/05/the-casket-is-on-hold.html

Sunday, 17 May 2015. The casket is on hold. After completing the fence and checking that the size of the front panel was correct I found I have still not decided whether to make this a 'family' casket or not. So for now, the couple remain faceless and the front lawns empty. My favoured quote to go along the bottom edge is too long so perhaps I will settle for initials of forebears? And tonight I'm off to watch Antiques Roadshow and enjoy my stitching. 17 May 2015 at 19:42. 18 May 2015 at 02:33. The caske...

An ongoing tale of my stitching obsession. Tuesday, April 28, 2015. Last weekend was one busy weekend! We decided to go to for a day trip which coincidentally happened to be where my LNS is. so, of course I stopped in. I picked out a counted canvas pattern called Tiptoe Through the Tulips and all of the stuff I needed for it. I love doing these needlepoint designs, but my oh my the supplies for them add up quickly. As you can see, I was so happy to get this that I started it as soon as I got home. It's b...

Karen's Colourful Creations: Catch up

http://www.karenscolorfulcreations.com/2015/04/catch-up.html

An ongoing tale of my stitching obsession. Thursday, April 23, 2015. It's been awhile, I know. I have been severely neglecting my blog and for the most part stitching in general. Recently, I picked up a small little ornament that I was working on before Christmas and I enjoyed placing the simple Xs on this simple little design and it's all sort of snowballed since then. I've finished this cute little Prairie Schooler design a couple of weeks ago. Just Cross Stitch Christmas Issue 2010. The leaves are act...

Ginnie's Cross Stitch and Dressmaking *. For my love of stitching and sewing. * * * * * *. Saturday, 9 February 2013. Just got 2 to show you today. I added another to my rota. request from Becki. She wanted a "home sweet home" type thing for her new house she is renting in Sept at uni with her friends. She saw this in the latest World of Cross Stitch and wanted it straight away. It isn't one I would normally choose but I am loving it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). West Midlands, United Kingdom. My name's J...

http://www.karenscolorfulcreations.com/2015_08_01_archive.html

An ongoing tale of my stitching obsession. Thursday, August 27, 2015. A little of this . and a little of that. This summer is just flying by. It's hard to believe it's August already and it seems too soon for leaves to be changing colour, but I found some this morning! The weather this past week has been absolutely dreadfully hot hot hot. Blue Jay in the bird bath re-purposed as a bird feeder. Squirrelly - I think I have a dozen of these little guys running around. I've also worked on Summer Tree of Stit...

Karen's Colourful Creations: June 2015

http://www.karenscolorfulcreations.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

An ongoing tale of my stitching obsession. Monday, June 29, 2015. Finally - a finish! Yup, that's right. I managed to stick with something long enough to finish it off! The design that kept me going long into the night was Quaker Gardens by Blackbird Designs. I was determined to finish it last night before going to bed. Well, Quaker Garden's time to shine finally came around and I enjoyed stitching every little bit of it. Recommended threads and fabric. Til next time,. Links to this post. On the Dry Side.

Cross Stitch Bobobitch Mononitch. Translation: One Bohemian Bourgeois Gal Who Likes to Cross Stitch. Saturday, June 20, 2015. Completed Cross Stitch – “Wicked Night” by Isabella Abbiati for The Primitive Hare. This piece is stitched on a 28-count Ivory-coloured Lugana cloth, dyed with Dylon’s Velvet Black and stitched with one thread over one. The dyed piece's dappled effect reminded me of the moon’s surface at a magnified level and I found the pattern to match after the dye experiment. Think of micro (s...

Cross Stitch Bobobitch Mononitch. Translation: One Bohemian Bourgeois Gal Who Likes to Cross Stitch. Saturday, January 23, 2016. Completed Cross Stitch - Rose Calton's "Pig Pals" for Leisure Arts. Are pigs really that big of a deal around here? Like with March 1st coming up and being National Pig Day (USA midwest) and all. While I think about March 1st and why it has been declared a National Pig Day, I will have to piggyback this idea off of another while I put my pigs in a blanket in the oven. Oh, it's ...

Follow Thread in Hand by Email. Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Then the insurance adjuster came to tell me that my car is totaled. That means it will cost more to fix it than the car is worth. A minor fender-bender has become a big headache. (Not my fault! We have to decide what to do next. Still thinking . . . So anyway I have been working on my eyelets for Friesland. I'm on the 15th one now. If I worked at it I could finish them today. If I worked diligently I could finish this today too. We'll see. At least...

Margaret's Wish List

Tuesday, August 14, 2012. Dames of the needle. Twas the night before Christmas. Rabbit garden sewing set. Thursday, April 2, 2009. It was suggested I updated my wishlist so herewith. Fabric - my eyesight now dictates a little so I prefer 32/36 count linens. I particularly like the hand-dyed linens I see on American websites - especially in the neutral shades or light blue, light green, cream etc. Thread - I love overdyed threads - blues greens reds (not oranges, yellows, purples).
