Paideia Blog: Final visit to boys and girls club

http://www.margaretspaideiablog.blogspot.com/2009/03/final-visit-to-boys-and-girls-club.html

Sunday, March 29, 2009. Final visit to boys and girls club. One of the most helpful things we decided on when we first started out was that all of the Paideia scholars would participate with all of the kids from the boys and girls club in each activity we did. This demonstrated that our activities were fun, exciting, and something everyone might want to do. It was also helpful in managing and directing the kids. Overall, I found the experience of teaching gymnastics, yoga, and tai chi at the boys and gir...

Friday, January 23, 2009. Being more reflective about experiences. Being more intentional in choices. Morrie is first and foremost a student of humanity; consequently Tuesday with Morrie acts much like a textbook on humanity. In fact, one of the first questions Morrie asks Mitch upon seeing him for the first time in about sixteen years is “Are you trying to be as human as you can be? Saturday, January 10, 2009. brainstorming weather: Hope Alliance Seminars

http://paideia3.blogspot.com/2011/02/hope-alliance-seminars.html

Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Did anyone else find it peculiar and potentially problematic that almost every photograph included in the "Men Can Help End Gender Violence" pamphlet, flattering or unflattering, is of a young black man? Just thought I'd throw it out there for further consideration. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Study Abroad Reflection—Australia Summer 2010. Jessie Daniel Ames Lecture. Dang it. Megan's Paideia Reflections: Student Works Symposium

http://paideiameganh.blogspot.com/2009/04/student-works-symposium.html

Thursday, April 16, 2009. Anna Frankel talked about her work at Sea Turtle, Inc. in South Padre Island. She discussed their philosophy, which is summed up in a cause-and-effect cycle that included education, interest in refuges, desire to conserve a species, and generating revenue. It is by using this cycle—focusing on educating—that they generate an income for their own non-profit organization and are able to donate to others. I heard about the Sea Turtle one and forgot to go! Megan's Paideia Reflections: December 2009

http://paideiameganh.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 3, 2009. End of the Semester. This semester has kind of been a whirlwind one…I really can’t believe how fast it’s gone. It’s getting harder and harder to pretend that the future is distant and to ignore the thoughts that will soon be necessary. I start Capstone next semester, I start applying to Physical Therapy schools in the summer, and evidently time is just going to keep passing more quickly. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Megan's Paideia Reflections: Off Campus Experience

http://paideiameganh.blogspot.com/2009/11/off-campus-experience.html

Thursday, November 19, 2009. The service wound down and we made our exit without getting a chance to see Porscha. I wouldn’t say that this experience was life-changing, and to be honest I probably won’t start frequenting South Baptist churches. However, I do think that the service was much more comforting and reassuring for me than any service at the Methodist churches I’m so used to. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sunday, November 28, 2010. End of Semester Reflection, 2010. You all have helped me greatly and widely. I am thankful for you and our time and times together. Sunday, November 14, 2010. Check out the photos I took in Dr. Bottorff's Astronomy course! If you look closely at the Jupiter photo, you can see two of its Galilean moons. I was so impressed with Dr. B's cameras that they could pick those up along with some of the belts and zones. Wednesday, November 10, 2010. Or marching bravely into the job market.

Monday, September 20, 2010. On Campus Event: LaDonna Harris. How are we supposed to help without becoming a detrimental or assimilating force? I just read this poem by Sherman Alexie (a Spokane author/screenwriter/filmmaker) from his collection “War Dances” entitled, “Go, Ghost, Go,” and though it’s probably illegal for me to post it up here I’ll just give a little snippit of the ending since it’s just so piquant and has spoken to me so cleanly:. He’s discussing how strange it is for a white profes...

Saturday, July 31, 2010. The food was delicious! The photo shows the yam pot, one of the remaining satays, some teacups, peanut sauce, and the sambal squid. (Oh, and I don’t think we ordered tea, it was simply brought out and served, sort of like water in other restaurants.). Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Week 3/4 of NYC. Ciao for now, neighborinos. Monday, December 20, 2010. Tonight's the night, folks! This is the first full lunar eclipse to take place on the winter solstice since 1638! Be out between 12:30 and 1:40 for a cosmic cool experience that hasn't been enjoyed for 372 years :]. I found this image online (from muslimmatters.org), here's a little hint at what the moon should look like throughout that midnight hour. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Tuesday, 10 January 2017. It's very quiet down the allotments at the moment, not many people about. Some we won't see yet until March when the growing season starts again. This time of year though, is a good time to catch up on maintenance jobs. Like mending fences, making new beds, sorting out a new allotment. The birds were glad to see us, we hadn't filled up the feeders for a while. We have probably now refilled them three times in the last week. Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Saturday, 31 December 2016.
