Tasmania - an Island Far Away. Early tasmanian migrant stories. These are powerful stories that define Tasmanian migrant history. There were turbulent years in the migrants’ lives as the storm clouds of Europe after WW II left European countries in ashes and ruin. People mourned for their lost families and children who had been sent away. Many left behind European war-torn cities, captures and escapes, forced marches, work camps and underground dangers. For some there was no turning back.
