Tuesday, August 16, 2011. First Day of Training. 7:45 and we were good to go. Not the greatest sleep but I'll adapt to the time change soon enough. Great warmup session with Ukranian coach Jarek, followed by some light technique. Lots of duck-unders and shucks, with the odd arm drag variation for us. My favourite part had to be Becky trying some new pushups off the gymnastics ladder and doing a hard face plant onto a bench! Today was mainly a wrestling day, and the girls in particular were feeling it!

Tuesday, August 23, 2011. 2 days of Insanity. Things are crazy busy here. So busy I actually didn't have time to update this blog yesterday. Look mom and dad, I'm wearing my mouthguard! It all started with one of our athletes throwing up. And then it was chaos. Some Polish virus ripped through about 3/4 of the team. Not fun flu and the most heart-breaking part of it, had to be when Tia started to cry when we told her she couldn't train or attend the wrestling session of yesterday. Lots of fun and then ou...

Friday, August 26, 2011. The time seemed to pass so quickly in Zakopane and suddenly it was Monday, and time to go. We got up early and bid some tearful goodbyes to our newfound Polish friends. We all had about 4 hours free time to do some souvenir shopping in Krakow and see the city. The castle and churches were beautiful, and the old city was gorgeous. Then the fun part began. Uh oh But our boys are pretty excited about learning an alternative style and did fairly ok at our sparring session.

Friday, August 19, 2011. Climbed a mountain today. That's right. A mountain. The kids were pretty excited because they had no morning run or sessions today so they all considered it a day off. Alison and Sarah struggled with walking almost right away. These two had blisters that were some of the hugest I've ever seen. We did some quick first aid on their feet allowing them to continue. Monday, August 15, 2011. It took a 7 hour bus ride but we made it! We are staying in a hostel-type residence where all our boys are in one room, and our 7 girls had the option to be split up into 2 rooms, but instead opted to push their beds together and stay as one tight unit! Nice to see the two clubs getting along so well. The boys are getting along great too. Jan and Kevin, your son is making you proud as I write this, he is surrounded by a half dozen giggling female Polish wrestlers! Oh What a Night!
