Monday, February 11, 2013. Headed for the train. We're in Ukiah tonight, headed for Sacramento tomorrow and on the train on Wedensday. We'll take a 24 hr layover in Chicago to see the newly remodeled Art Institute. Then, home, hoping we can get to the house through the snow banks that we've seen on the news. Wednesday, January 30, 2013. If this is Wednesday, this must be Denver. We waived at Rochester as we passed through and arrived reasonably well rested in Chicago on Tuesday morning. Had a nice walk around the neighborhood of the station before boarding the California Zephyr. Touch typing is great! You can write a blog and look at the mountains at the same time. Saturday, February 02, 2013. At Reno 2 ATF agents board the train and begin to question those who are 'traveling while young and male' about guns and drugs, searching bags, while admittedly being very courteous and chatty. Kind of jarring after a security free trip. Just a reminder of the real world? Folks, there's lots of leg room and the staff is downright friendly. This is not United Airlines. I'll post more pictures soon but Gary's sleeping and I don't know where he's hidden the camera.
