Sunday, November 2, 2014. The NC State Fair! Jimmy and I had not been to the State Fair since Charlie was nine months old, so we were very excited to take the boys this year! Shortly after walking through the gates, we found this little replica of Hatteras! Little Charlie with great big Smoky the Bear! Getting to try out the helicopter! It seems he is mystified! Checking out the available seating. That's a BIG bulldozer! A cute little snack stand, with reasonable prices! We got Moon Pies and Pepsi, along...

Thursday, January 30, 2014. My man playin' that guitar for the first time in quite a while. It's been too long! Playing the sticks (a.k.a., my salad tongs). Playing Jimmy's tiny bongo drum that he's had since college. Using the salad tongs to play the drum. Dancing during another night of Advent worship. Fun times! And a bit chaotic, but that's okay! We lucked up and got this picture the same night as the one above. This was our Christmas card picture, and I just love it! We talked to them about St. ...

Wednesday, January 7, 2015. Well I'm always behind on blogging, but at least now I'm in the right year! After our busy week of traveling we spent New Year's Day quietly, just the four of us. We started off at IHOP! Our sweet-tooth boy got a chocolate pancake with chocolate chips, because he needs more sugar/energy. Right. After brunch we went to the Lake Lynn Community Center to try out the scooters and play! My little buddy. Walking with purpose! The boys on the climbing wall. Playing tag with Daddy.

Monday, January 5, 2015. The Christmas Tour 2014. The first celebration of the day was with Grandma and Gene. Mom cooked a delicious lunch and then we all had a good time giving gifts, visiting, and relaxing afterwards. Santa/Snowman Checkers (they just like to organize the characters.). Everyone with a red shirt climb in this chair! I love how much fun they have with Gammer. Gammer lets the boys do things like. tie him up with Christmas yarn and wear safety goggles! You're a good sport, Dad! Charlie's p...

Friday, July 5, 2013. For the past couple of days we've just had Henry since Charlie has been at Granana's. It's so odd not to have the whole family together, and of course we miss Charlie, but it's been nice to get some alone time with Henry too! I was taking a picture of his one curl. After watching his brother, he figured out how to play tee ball all by himself! Such a sweet, snuggly boy! I also wanted to record some things about Henry at 14 months:. On April 17th Henry's first tooth FINALLY erupted!

Baby-sitting Ilah weeks later. the boys thought this was great fun and were very sweet to her! Charlie with his cupcake picture he colored during his time at the Y. I think this is what started is cupcake obsession. The most handsome Charlie Byrd I ever did see. : ). Charlie and Henry one morning "making cupcakes.". Putting some elbow grease into it.

Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Had a great day going to the Brown Family Farm Memorial Day Picnic! I'll never complain about free bbq, even if it's NC style. Charlie enjoyed the truck ride, but it was really bumpy. We all really enjoyed the playground. Afterwards, we stopped at Sonic for some refreshing beverages. Hope everyone else had a good family day as well. Thank you soldiers whose sacrifices have made peaceful days like this possible. Dad. Truck ride - camo style. Posted by The Byrds. Stephanie didn't know she was going to be proposed to 6 more times. all the ladies of our family asked her to be our respective cousin, neice, granddaughter, etc. Darla asking her to be her aunt. Sallie asking her to be her daughter. Stephanie with all her new bling! The gals. : ). During the wedding I was actually upstairs w...

Friday, June 28, 2013. This was the first year I have participated in our church's annual summer outreach camp:. Our outreach/missions pastor is a runner himself, so he began this 15ish years ago as a unique summer ministry for kids around here. It has grown steadily ever since Rob started it, and this year was the biggest group yet over the two different weeks: roughly 700 kids attended! I had such a good time during the first camp week that I asked if I could help during the second week too, ha! For th...

Wednesday, August 14, 2013. We're not vegetarians since we may order meat when we go out to eat sometimes, we allow the kids to eat meat several times a week (and yogurt regularly), and if meat is served to us at someone's home we won't turn it away. I think the technical word for that is a flexitarian, ha! Pictures of some lunch and dinner food we've enjoyed. Hummus on bread with tomatoes and cucumber, mandarin oranges, and a carrot and raisin salad. My first ever batch of fried green tomatoes! The reci...
