Community Chest is an IGA initiative to raise funds for contribution to the local community. Every time you purchase a Community Chest product you are helping to support various organisations, sporting clubs, charities and community groups in the local communities that surround our stores. That's because a percentage from each Community Chest product sold is set aside for distribution back into the community. Ryan’s is a family business. We opened our first supermarket at Northway (Ballarat North) in 1979, Pleasant Park (Ballarat) in 1983, Torquay in 1985, and Midvale (Mt. Clear) 1989. In 2001, we opened our first stand alone liquor store in Ballarat and followed with another in Colac in December 2003. We purchased an existing supermarket in Beaufort in March 2004 and a supermarket in Kyneton in 2007.
