Me and where I am
Mark and Egypt: January 2010
http://markandegypt.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Me and where I am. Sunday, January 31, 2010. If only Egypt was a part of Africa. It's pretty much the same thing except there was no flag burning, and that's not just because no one could find Ghanaian flags. Egypt just hates Algeria. Saturday, January 30, 2010. It was a foggy day but fog doesn't stop adventure. Little people in the bottom left corner for scale- it was hard to realize how high up we were since the desert has a way of making everything blend together. Labels: out of masr. They shoved the ...

Mark and Egypt: November 2009
http://markandegypt.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Me and where I am. Thursday, November 26, 2009. I'm branching out from typical Egyptian concerts. By going to non-Egyptian concerts. On Monday, I saw Karimouche. A French hip hop group, at The Culture Wheel. My French is limited to what I remember from 8th and 9th grade. Every time the lead singer/rapper said bonjour. Zut, chat, chien,. Je suis reussi l'examine,. And tout le monde,. I totally knew what she saying. Hello, darn, cat, dog, i will pass the exam, all the time. Wednesday, November 18, 2009.
Mark and Egypt: October 2009
http://markandegypt.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Me and where I am. Saturday, October 31, 2009. The pyramids are so important they deserve their own post. But today was another adventure and I am being timely about reportin. This is practically live! It's Halloween. What better way to celebrate than by going to the Citadel of Salah Al-Din? Though this is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Cairo, it is relatively unimpressive and decidedly overpriced.". I went with my friend Lillie. Inside the mosque are lots of tourists. The mosque is s...
Mark and Egypt: Beeramids
http://markandegypt.blogspot.com/2010/06/beeramids.html
Me and where I am. Sunday, June 6, 2010. Yesterday, I went on an adventure with Lillie and Brendan. To Saqqara, which is about 30 km south of Cairo. The town is well-known for two reasons: it has one of the oldest pyramids in all of Egypt and, more importantly to almost everyone in Egypt, there's a relatively new Egyptian beer that's named after it- Sakara. Truth be told, none of us really cared about seeing Saqqara's main attraction: the step-pyramid of Djoser. Labels: the old egypt. My Life on Film.

http://ourbigsafari.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 26, 2009. In other news, this week has been rather quiet. It took us around 5 days to recover from the mountain. Our muscles were fine by day 2, but our colds lingered. After that we will officially be done with Moshi.but we still have over a week before that happens! Thursday, November 19, 2009. Day two began at j...

Our Big Safari: Amsterdam Bound
http://ourbigsafari.blogspot.com/2009/12/amsterdam-bound.html
Tuesday, December 22, 2009. This post was written on Sunday 12/20. Greetings from Athens airport,. Currently Amsterdam is being blanketed in white in preparation for Christmas. An unfortunate side effect of this is that we are now facing an indeterminate delay. Aside from this minor hiccup, our trip to Athens has been amazing. Chris was a fantastic host, showing us the best of Greek food, music, history, drinks, and food. Here in bullet form, we will give you the highlights. The people: seeing and doing ...

Our Big Safari: Snow!
http://ourbigsafari.blogspot.com/2009/12/snow.html
Tuesday, December 22, 2009. So while many of you have been enduring snow for many weeks now, our arrival in Amsterdam marked our first snow encounter of the year. Apparently snow is relatively rare here, as all of their transportation infrastructure more or less shut down from about 1.5" of the fluffy stuff. Regardless of this, the city looks quite nice. We can't believe we'll be heading home so soon, but we can't wait to see everyone! Until next time,. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Yia su (hello) from Greece! Yesterday, we arrived in Athens safe and sound. But before I elaborate on our going-ons here, I will provide a couple more details about our Rome excursion. Stumbled upon these historical monuments. Though the tour books warned of long. Lines, we were fairly lucky. Our favorite destination was the Pantheon which we ended up returning to a couple times and even ate dinner across from it one night. Though we are only starting our Greek section of th...

Written in Lava: Up, up and away!
http://writteninlava.blogspot.com/2010/05/up-up-and-away.html
Sunday, May 23, 2010. Up, up and away! This past friday I got a bird's eye view of the entire Kilauea volcano from the summit crater down to the coast. I got to ride along on the weekly helicopter monitoring trip. It was amazing. Beautiful. Dynamic. Dizzying. Breathtaking. The list of adjectives could go on.but I will spare you. I was tempted to keep mine on the entire day once we returned to the observatory, but after getting a bunch of weird looks I reluctantly took it off. We took off at 8:30 am at a ...

Monday, May 10, 2010. A view of Kilauea Iki Crater from the a lookout near the start of the trail. Sunday, June 27, 2010. Crossing the Ka'u Desert. I am trying to look epic as a look back across the desert. I am slowly making my way through the various trails in the park. Last weekend, I trekked across the dry, hot Ka’u desert. About a mile in, you stumble across the fossilized footprints. My foot in comparison to the ancient fossilized footprint. The legend ( http:/ www.nps.gov/havo/historyculture/footprints.htm. An eruption at Kilauea’s summit a few miles away sent a mixture of rain and ash (m...
